The actor meaning Dick Van Dyke? For some reason the video was double dubbing for me and I couldn't handle it after a minute.

This movie belongs in horror films for me. That character with the greasy hair and long nose tinkler (don't know his official name) scared me when I was really young watching the movie.

I so loved this movie as a kid. And I so wanted my brother's Chitty chitty bang bang car.

            I always loved it too.

The Old Bamboo is one of the catchiest songs ever written

As a kid I never noticed, but as an adult I wonder why they didn't have Dick put on a fake British accent like in Mary Poppins - considering his whole family is British in the movie ?

that accent in Mary was one he was derailed about being over the top.

Because everbody was so embarrased after he did it in Poppins that it was never EVER going to happen again. Nobody in Britain ever talked like he did in that film.

I never noticed how bad it was.

Back in the 60's that exact accent (Cockney maybe?) was very popular in American comedy TV shows when referencing British of the 1800's.

It even appeared on Gilligan's Island performed by most of the cast -- Jeckle and Hyde episode

I've noticed us yanks have a much harder time imitating your accents than you guys do with ours, for some reason. F.ex., Band of Brothers, most of those actors were British, and an American would never know it from their ability to mimic us. I, on the other hand, watch tons of Alan Partridge and The Mighty Boosh, and I sound as fake as Van Dyke: "Nuvuh spot o' tea, Guv?"

I think after the TV Batmobile I'd love a CCBB car.

I've noticed that too. Except for Daniel Davis (Niles from the Nanny and Professor Moriarty STTNG) and John Hillerman ( Higgins from Magnum PI) and have yet to see many American actors pull of a natural sounding English accent.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I only recently discovered that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is based on an Ian Fleming story (I knew Roald Dahl had done the script).

Which basically makes it a prototype to all the fancy James Bond Cars!
