My wife and I saw it earlier this week. While it certainly wasn't the best I've ever seen, it was fun, and for the most part engaging. With that being said, I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one am getting really tired of the shakey-cam school of film making; not every action picture needs to be filmed as if the cameraman was running right behind the principle actor(s).Comment

It was pretty good. Sort of a combination Clover field,Space Above and Beyond and every solid war movie.
It narrowly focuses on a single squad of Marines on a rescue mission behind enemy lines. The enemy just happens to be aliens.
We really dont know much about the aliens or their motivation. Do they want our water? Maybe, we dont really know.
Like cloverfield its what you dont know or dont get a clear look at which makes the story better.

Actually, didn't Arthur C. Clarke use that same specific scenario (e.g. computer viruses/trojans/worms) to wipe out the Monolith in 3001? It's been awhile since I last read the book, but the explanation was that most computer viruses work on mathematical principles that should be somewhat universal...
Honmestly, I liked Battle: LA a bit more than Cloverfield - if for no other reason than the characters were more likable and not as two-dimensional. I thought the ending was a little too contrived, but I guess that's to be expected these days.
Has anyone seen Monsters yet? I bought the Blu-Ray, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.Comment

ON the other hand it was kind of silly.....
Yeah I forgot 3001. I liked that story.Comment

I heard it was a poo-poo nugget.
Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

Saw it with my 15 year old son last night. Pure action flick with cool aliens and lots of fighting and guns and Marines and what not.
If you like a good action flick, then this is it. It won't win any oscars. My dad was a Marine and my son is enamored with the Marines - so we both really liked it.Comment

I saw it and was entertained. Hated the camera shaking though. Other than that it was fun. Not as suspenseful as I like but I still had a good time. Those who look outside dream. Those who look within awake.
