Your opinions ... Classic Sci Fi that isn't dated and dated

For "classic" i'll take anything 10+ years old.

Could be movies or TV shows

List of Sci-Fi shows/movies you think has aged well.
    My list

    Classic Star Trek
Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea
    2001
    Forbidden Planet
    Alein movie series
    Star Wars movie series

List of Sci-Fi shows/movies you think has NOT aged well.
    My list

    Star Trek TNG
    U.F.O
    Space 1999
    Lost in Space
    Land of the Giants
    Classic Doctor Who (JNT years)

    Still thinking
The above list is just a few off the top of my head.
...and of course everyones opinion will be different

It's weird. I recently started rewatching the old 1936 Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon serial. My 9 yr old says "Dad, that's so cheesy!" I look at the the screen and, yes, by today's CGI standards it is, but I told him to remember this was made in 1936, that's 75 years ago, and they did pretty well for no real space flight knowledge, no green screens or blue screens, just models and wires.
Does it hold up today? I guess that depends on your perspective.
It sure is still fun to watch.
    Bugler, sound the advance.

Mike, I get that you don't like Star Trek TNG, but how can you call it dated? I mean, I love the original series too, but it's way more dated that TNG, in that in really reflected the 60s in wardrobe, hair, techology. Star Trek TNG would be more accurate in terms of technology, artificial lifeforms, women on the bridge. I not criticizing, I'm just curious as to your reasoning.

I have to agree on Space 1999. As much as I love it, it is so a product of it's time. I don't feel that way about the Treks. Who is hard for me to judge. Each era is so different. Some of it plays well and some of it doesn't.

I'm kind of looking at it this way .........

If you pulled all the characters off of Next Gen and put them nude in an empty room they still scream 80's (their personalities)

If you did the same with Classic Characters, they seem like they could have came from today.

              Aged well:

              ST - TOS
              Twilight Zone
              Blade Runner
              Star Trek films, (original Crew)
              SPACE:1999
              Buck Rogers tv series
              Star Wars films, 4-6
              Aliens films
              Battlestar Galactica (1978)
              Stargate SG-1
              Voyagers!

              Not aged well:

              V
Twilight Zone - revived tv series (1980's)
Outer Limits - revived tv series (2000's)
              Blakes 7
              Red Dwarf
              The Starlost
              Land of the Lost
              ST-TNG
              Lost In Space
              U.F.O.
Doctor Who - Most color episodes up to 1989
              Dark Star
              Space Academy
              Jason of Star Command

ST-TNG is `80's dated. The bridge appears to be a set or a living room-not a futuristic bridge. The rest of the ship appears to be a hotel. Not a starship. When you compare to other ship's bridges, Classic E, ST6 -E, Excelsior, Defiant, Voyager, DS-9, they seem realistic to me. Even after TNG was successful you'll note no other ship has a bridge like 1701-D except for other Galaxy Class ships. The other ships reflect classic or movie trek colors, layout, design.

I also always thought having whole families on board was dumb and was a promise from the start most episodes would be boring.

Well most of the stuff I like would be considered "dated", but also "timeless" as well. A lot of it holds up w/ kids today.

Irwin Allen's series (VTTBOTS, Lost In Space, Land Of The Giants)
                    Star Trek TOS
                    The Twilight Zone
                    Original Land Of The Lost
                    Buck Rogers (TV Series)
                    Battlestar Galatica

I'm sure there's some I'm forgetting. I don't like a whole lot of the new stuff, but the other Trek shows and Highlander, maybe some others. The classic stuff just has more imagnation, and less "special" effects. Sometimes, the cheesy stuff is the best.

Land of the Giants is still pretty good too. IMHO

And nobody has mentioned Babylon 5, I liked that too.

I actually agree with mike on this. yes, the technology aspects of it and some of the clothing is definately a product of the 60's, but to actually sit and watch TNG, the effects look cheesier than what they did on TOS. the blue screen stuff just has not held up well. I can sti and watch TOS and not feel like I am in a time warp. if I watch TNG i feel like it is 1987 again. just can't sit through this stuff anymore

                          I think shows like
                          Stark Trek TOS
                          Trek DS9
                          Highlander
                          Babylon 5
                          Farscape
                          Planet of the Apes
Battlestar Gallactica - original and remake

                          have held up very well

                          shows like

                          V - the original series
                          Buck Rogers
                          some Dr. Who era's
                          Star Trek TNG

not so much. not saying I don't like these shows anymore, but they are dated

Held up to time.... Logan's Run, Outer Limits and Twilight Zone original shows, The Prisoner (if its considered SF)

Dated and out of touch, Buck Rogers and Galactica
