it was released in pilot screenings in Texas and was so bad they pulled it. It saw limited release in south america and central europe and later was released on video tape in spanish for south america and enf w dutch subtitled in europe. It was based on megazone 23 footage interspliced (BADLY becasue there were 2 different film types used 35MM and 16mm telecine) with southern cross footage (the result was similiar to the indoor video footage of most classic Dr who compared with outdoor film shots).
There are some bootlegs out but it's pretty terrible. I have a copy and have watchted it...Macek's choice not to release it was the right one

there are many imports of the subtitled version and the dubbed version was released in it's entirety on laserdisc in hong kong as ENG w chinese subtitles, which is actually much easier to follow than the much more common edited version released on VHS as Clash of the bionoids

there is the dtv Shadow Chronicles a direct continuation of the Monpeada based 3rd series with Scott bernard - available from netflix and ebay

and there has been rumors of a live action in pre production for about 10 years....I doubt that will happen unless they abandon all the original mecha designs and character names (too many long standing legal fueds) but then is it really robotech?

yeah that the last thing I read actually Toby McGuire is that he started his own production company probably with all the spiderman money he made and its for sure he's gonna play Rick Hunter if Robotech happends under his company banner After the Transformers success its gonna happen

anyone know if there will be a sequel to the Shadow Chronicals? I lied the movie, thought it was light years better than the Sentinals they released on video in the 90's, which had been cobbled together from the scrapped sequel series
