    Time Tunnel

I've never seen an episode of this show, and was wondering if it was any good?
Someone on the net described it as a precursor to Quantum Leap.

    Any fans here?
    What can I expect?

There's a LOT of Irwin Allen fans out there, many of whom like this show more than I do..

The two leads were great, the stories were typical adventure storylines from the 60s, including the neato futuristic sci-fi ones with aliens off the sets of "Lost in Space".

It was an interesting concept, but it despite the potential, it didn't really catch on for more than a season. I do admire the nifty cost-cutting measures they did with the historical shows, using lots of footage and costumes borrowed from the major movie productions.

Entertaining, but I'm more of a 'Land of the Giants'/LIS fan.

Great show. A little dated by today's standards.
Yes, it was the grandaddy to Quantum, Sliders and all those that followed.
It used the usual Irwin Allen props and costumes from other shows. It traveled back to some of histories greatest moments and eventually forward in to the future.

I love the Time Tunnel but I would probably list it as my least favorite Irwin Allen sci-fi series.

A few reasons it's not higher on my list .....

        1. They don't care about continuity and changing history

        2. The shows overuse of stock footage is sometimes laughable

        Some good points

        1. The shows regulars are all likable

        2. The Time Tunnel itself is just plain crazy-cool

So to sum up, it's definitely a MUST SEE, but ranks in a little lower than Voyage, Lost and Land ... imo

Yeah, continuity was not Allen's priority, but I'd put it above Voyage, below Lost and on par with Land.

I liked the show, but sometimes it was kinda like watching a history lesson. But it was entertaining. I just wished they did more future eps.

Was crazy about the show as a kid. Bought both seasons as an adult and found it fun but not quite as spectacular as I recalled. If you like time travel, its a must have. Worth pursuing is the unreleased Time Tunnel pilot they did a few years back. You can find it on one of the two season releases of the original show. It was pretty darn good - too bad it never made it on the air (because it was too Quantum Leap-like from what I understand)

The NEW Time Tunnel unreleased pilot is on the Volume-2 DVD set.

It's ok, but I didn't like the fact they made Tony a woman and a minor character ... aka Toni Newman

Doug is also too young, imo

I'll chime in on this. It's vintage cornball Irwin Allen fare. I love it. I've got all of Allen's series, except for Land of the Giants, in my DVD collection.

The premise of the 2002 version of Time Tunnel is closer to that of the 1964 novel by Murray Leinster. The pilot was deep-sixed by network exec's in favour of another series, Firefly.

i have all the irwin allen dvds, just complted voyage to the bottom of the sea.the time tunnel was a fun show,a classic, pure fun,the batman style fighting in every episode, the era effects, doug and tony and the support cast were great, its not as good as giants, voyage,or lost in space, because there are only 30 episodes, but its far better then that show voyagers from the 70s.

I just watched the third episode tonight ...

The one where there's a mine collapse in 1911-ish and it's thought Halley's comet will destroy the Earth.

They make it look like the entire world was panicking because everyone thought it was the end of the world.

I never remember reading any of that in my history books

The biggest problem with the Time Tunnel is many times they blatantly change well known facts in history to suit a story.

What a great decision that was. Firefly was fantastic but hey guess what they did next, they cancelled it.

That was my impression as well, loved when they mixed it up with aliens.

I agree with Mikey.., it's probably at the bottom of my list, I still rank LIS and LOTG at the top.
