Why Blakes 7 will never be released in the US?

Someone mentioned in another thread a while bak this series would never be released as Region 1 in the US. but did not elaborate. I bought mine from the fan club and watch them on a region free player but can anyone explain why no US release?

Was the show ever aired in the US ? ...

I don't remember ever seeing it on my local PBS or any other station.

If not, perhaps that's why there's no DVD releases - because they don't think enough Americans will buy it.

Personally, I never even heard of the show until I seen Intergalactic Trading Company selling some patches from the show in the mid 80's

In used to watch it every saturday night just before they ran a complete movie version of a Doctor Who story on PBS back in the 80's. I loved it! I think part of the problem is there are 4 short seasons and that's it. Now that would be enough for most people. considering they released Moonbase and the Omega can't remember the rest of the title of that other show.on disc and they were just one season each. i have a friend who bought all the VHS tapes they made in the 90's. i'm gonna have to borrow them soon now.

I watched it in the 90s on broadcast TV in Los Angeles. It may have been on PBS, but it could have been an independent station, too.

Here in NY when Doctor Who was at it's height in the 1980's on PBS one station ran it. WLIW in Garden City, NY ran the whole run of Balkes 7, 2x's, (maybe 3x's), and I think that was it. I bought my DVD's from the fan club but I have a region free player so I can enjoy them. Someone here remarked once it will never officially be released in the US. Tho I don't know why that is so or if it is even true.

One of the PBS station in Upstate New York use to air it. Either the one out of Binghamton or Syracuse. Can't remember which. They would rotate it with Hitchhiker's Guide.

My PBS was NJN/NJT (Trenton) and I don't think they ever aired it.

They were crazy for Doctor Who though

Well, I meant locally, as in "stores in Belgium". Nobody seemed to be buying them, and they went from $40 to 20 to 7 in a few months time...
