I might give it a solid shot. Should I start at the beginning? I've heard it really didn't start getting good until Season Three, as david_b suggested. That sometimes happens--it takes a bit to find the characters' voices or something.

The Next Generation is like working in a cubicle doing spreadsheets from 9-5.
Deep Space 9 is like working as a longshoreman in the graveyard shift...dirty and gritty.
I prefer dirty and gritty...

My wife loves TNG so much that we have the entire series on DVD. Her favorite episode is "The Inner Light" or as I refer to it "The Flute Episode." In fact when they had the big ST auction a few years back I signed up to bid on the flute. They estimated that it would sell for around $3,000 so I made sure I had the funds to bid. It sold for something like $30,000!! Needless to say no sweet surprise for Maggy.
I don't mind TNG and I never grow tired of looking at Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) and yes, I know I'm weird.
My favorite is Voyager. I can't really say why but I first watched it when nothing else of interest was on the TV one night and I actually enjoyed it so it became one of my regular shows to watch. It's not my favorite show by far but it's my favorite of the ST franchise. The original was OK but I never purposely watched it. More like if it was on I might watch it depending on what else was on.

Hmmmm....
I wasn't a fan. I thought the crew were too perfect and well-adjusted. Made them boring. Although Worf, the Klingon with a glass jaw made me laugh. (He got beat up in almost every episode, and died at least twice....) The only stuff I thought was nifty was when Troi wanted her full commision, and Ro; although they got rid of Ro pretty quick.

I liked it and watched religeously. the show really hit its stride after they dumped Wil Wheaton. However, I find it very dated in an odd sort of way, more so than TOS and as a result very rareley can sit through an episode.
DS9 on the other hand is a much more enjoyable show to watch....darker and grittier. it really hit is't stride when Worf joined the cast - season 4? and then ran like a great seriel until the end of season 6. season 7 was lackluster at best. the show really lost something when Terry Farrell leftComment

I might have to hand in my trek card for this but,I would rather sit down and watch the entire series of enterprise than watch one rerun episode of TNG....
I'm just saying...LOL“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment

I watched TNG regularly when it first aired. But I just can't watch it anymore. I think it aged far worse than the original series. Watched DS9 off and on for a bit. Couldn't really get into it. I think they dragged the Dominion War out way too long and that "You are the Sisko." stuff got old pretty fast. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

Altho' I loved my TOS toys and POWER RECORDS 45,
TNG was "my Trek"... I particularly enjoyed what Mike called the
"soap style".
I don't know what some were looking for, but I found more characterization and humor in TNG than in TOS... even the TOS movies
seemed to handle the TOS characterizations better than the series run did.
(BTW I just watched FISTFUL OF DATAS for the first time and was pretty
into it despite it being one of the weaker latter day episodes...
and I literally lol'ed at the ending Western scene)"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

Just decided to give Yoyager and Enterprise a fair shot and watched the first seasons of each. Liked Voyager quite a bit, but am loving Enterprise (except for the theme song). Trip Tucker strikes me essentially as if McCoy were Chief Engineer instead of Medical Officer, and it can be action packed, from time to time. I'm also finding the Andorians pretty interesting.Comment

I also love TNG because that is the Trek I grew up with. I didn't watch the originals till I was much older. However Dr McCoy is my favorite character in the entire franchise. He's awesome.Comment

When this show came out, I tried really hard to like it. When Tasha was killed by a glob and Wesley landed on that Utopia planet and then broke the box and was sentenced to die...well, that was it for me.
Then, I stated to date this girl who was a big next Gen fan. By this point, I was watching Yesterdays Enterprise and Best of Both Worlds. Wow! Talk about a turnaround. I really enjoyed the show. Yes, everyone is too perfect except Barclay. I gave Deep Space Nine a chance and LOVED it. My favorite of all the series. It had a supporting cast that was every bit as interesting as the main cast. It slipped a bit it's seventh season but those middle years were really fun to watch.
Anyway, I have all The Next Gen and Deep Space on DVD as the girl I was dating became my wife and she is the huge Trekkie.Comment
