I love that movie! And Frank Gorshin was in it too!
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Didnt they do a knock off. Same lovers lane, head lights kill the alcohol injecting monsters....But with different monsters?.......I always pictured one of the aliens surviving and hooking up with the frat boys. A walking keg what could be more fun at parties? Hey Zort come here and give us a hit......
is this the one with the kids making out at the old guys farm?
the girl: "slow down...it's too fast."
the boy: "that proves you love me."
and the cure for thinking: "more beer!"

Yeah that's right, I remember seeing both versions when I was a kid and was confused about why the movie seemed the same, but the aliens looked different (I think they were white and bumpy looking in the remake?..I'm basing this on 35 year old memories). Anyway, the original version scared the CRAP out of me when I first saw it. Those were fantastic looking aliens.
Larry Buchanan remade several AIP movies for TV back in the late 1960s, he had even less of a budget and they are somewhat hypnotic as a result. They are:
The Eye Creatures (invasion of the Saucer Men)
Zontar, The Thing from Venus (It Conquered the World)
Creature of Destruction (The She Creature)
Mars Needs Women (This one was original)
In the Year 2889 (Day the World Ended)
Curse of the Swamp Creature (The Voodoo Woman)
It's Alive! (another original)
I love these films, they're complete trash and have stars like Tommy Kirk, Yvonne Craig and John Agar. "Zontar" inspired that great SCTV skit.
