    New Thunderbirds Series

It was announced this week that Gerry Anderson was going to be making another series of Thunderbirds. I've been a massive fan since seeing it as a kid in the 70s and very excited to hear about this. I just hope that some of the originals charm is maintained.

Rumours at the moment are that John will be dropped in favour of a sister. It's well known that Anderson hated John. He also wants to update many of the vehicles.

What would you guys rather see; a CGI or puppet orientated show? Personally, I'd love to see it made in the same way Team America was.

If it's CGI, i'll have no interest in it.

If it's puppets and models i'll give it a shot --- because I love the classic series

It will be CGI. No studio will lay out the time needed to make episodes with old techniques like the models and puppets, also no network would buy the show unless it was all bang upto date using the latest ways of making such things.

They have allready done it with Capt Scarlett and this will be done the same way.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if the CGI Captain Scarlet series is available in Region 1 on DVD?
        Bugler, sound the advance.

I could never get into Scarlet (classic)

Not long ago a buddy loaned me a disc and I couldn't make it past one episode.

It's just so boring and stagnant.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. They should just make Thunderbirds the way they did in the 60s, but obviously they can now remove the strings. Please no Chrysler Fab 1. Stick very closely to the original designs with more detail and it will be great.

I watched the cgi Scarlet because the original was my fav Anderson puppet show (UFO for live action) and felt that too much was lost in the transition...like the kettle drum roll between scenes because of copyright issues I believe..and updated designs that looked very little like the original great designs..these things really spoilt it for me and I'd hate to see Thunderbirds go the same way.As clemso said ...if it aint broke...

I totally agree with you guys, there's a reason why the original has never lost it's appeal. It doesn't look as if we're going to get our wish though unfortunately. Anderson has said that the show will be CGI, he wants to update all the ships, especially 4 & 5 and some of the personel. Why would somebody butcher their own show? It just doesn't make any sense.

My initial excitement is starting to turn into trepidation.

If Gerry is going to do this alone without Sylvia's input (and i'm guessing he will) it will mostly definitely suck.
IMO it was Sylvia who actually MADE those classic shows.

Gerry was mostly just the business end of it - especially during the Thunderbirds era.

Without Sylvia, the show wont be the same no matter what they do.
