    ... Sidious, Tyrnannus

This is why old guys like us leave this all behind. My nephew now prides himself in being much more informed about the Star Wars universe than the so-called "Expert" that I was back in the day.

I remember when I used to tell him about how Boba Fett survived the sarlacc pit and Darth Vader became part cyborg by falling into lava (which turned out to be true to his amazement when he went to see the third prequel). Now he tells me about stuff like how Darth Maul survived being cut in half... (while I feign interest).

the Darth Maul surviving thing was a what if storyline...I think
lots of the names have been silly when you look at that they really say

Senator Orn fre Ta (corn Fritter anyone?)
Ree Yees - his son saw the mask when he was like two and tried to say 3 eyes

they obviously are running out of ideas here......if they were really smart they would stop all this prequel stuff and do an animated series taking place after Jedi....even following the gist of the book storylines that have come out.....not all the books were great but enough were to keep a series going strong

Is this part of a heartwarming story about him coming back to guide the Emperor's sleigh? There's suspension of disbelief, and then there's just stupid.

See, if the Sith were really sneaky they'd go with Darth Cherry Cupcakes or Darth Rainbow Stars. Take a cue from My Little Pony.

Submitted to George, maybe he can use this for 'Episode Zero - The Quest for More Dollars' pre-prequel?

"Frig' Ginn Stoopid, Lord of the Outta Ideazz System"

              Meh...

The 'magic' still lives George...just keep turning out those 'I wrote this in one weekend' scripts and those DAZZLING in-camera effects, and it will be 1978 for us all OVER again! I mean, who needs Han Solo and Admiral Ackbar when you have 'Sleazbaggano' and 'Dexter Jetster'?! (I wish I were making those up, but I'm not...)

                >This is why old guys like us leave this all behind.

....but REALLY old guys should be okay with it. As was pointed out; weird descriptive names like this were normal back in the 50's and 60's. 'Course, a lot of folks here are okay with THOSE. (Does NO-ONE have anything bad to say about someone who's real name is "Savage?" Would YOU want him as your doctor?) It's weird, but I'm not bothered by it. (If you see the episode it's not his real name, either. More of a job description.) 'Specially since I like the current Clone Wars show.

....although it's always in the back of my head that one day we'll see Anakin chop Asoka into pieces....

After the whole Jar-jar thing, nothing phases me. Could he ever top that disappointment? I don't think so. At this point, names that wouldn't confuse a 2nd grader don't surprise me in the least.

Read about the name a few months ago... kept hoping they'd change it. They haven't.
The character is voiced by Clancy Brown.

Interestingly, in the episode, they actually pronounce "savage" the French way.

Well, the SW movies and expanded universe have always had some... memorable names in them.
Yarael Poof from TPM springs to mind.
And there's a robot in the early Han Solo novels called Bollux.

Yeah, it irks me a bit that the Clone Wars toon and merchandising machine seems to pretty much dismiss the fact that Anakin will one day turn on all his friends and kill a bunch of little kids.

The prequels leave a lot to be desired, but the ominous threat of Vader's coming hung over Anakin's head in all of those flicks, and in the 2-D animated Clone Wars series. It's completely ignored here.

This is the problem with prequels: I don't think they've dismissed or ignored it, since at this time Anakin WOULDN'T turn on his friends. But since we've all seen the future we know it's coming. Kinda makes it hard to root for the guy. Although the show gives plenty of screen time to other characters to make up for this; especially the clones. (The soon to be Imperial Stormtrooper clones.... *sigh*)

Darth Shidious and Count Doo Doo.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Would have been cool if the prequels had actually covered the Clone Wars themselves in more detail, rather than just showing the very beginning and very end of the war.

Over the decades, I always wondered what the Clone Wars would look like and how they would play out, based on the snippets of information we'd had since 1977.

Particularly the very first info that was released about Boba Fett, which stated that his armour was the kind "worn by a group of evil warriors defeated by the Jedi Knights during the Clone Wars."

Obviously that lore was changed somewhat for the prequels.
