On occasion McCoy would rest his fanny on a consoles edge to hang out. Often he would stand in the lower level next to Kirk leaning on the rail. In ST-TMP he kneels next to Kirk from behind the railing when they enter the wormhole-I think.
AND for those of you who really like trivia: I think he actually say "He Dead Jim!". In the episode The Intruder Within after they re-combine the aggressive dog with the passive dog and it transports back dead Bones examines it and says, " He's Dead Jim!"
