    Indepedance Day 1996-Blu Ray

You Know I grabbed this over the weekend. rewatching it after some 15 years I could not get into it. I remember going crazy when I went to see it opening day in 1996.but looking at it now I couldnt even finish it .Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith were getting on my nerves. The only person I liked was Bill Pullman as the President . I mean dont get me wrong the picture and sound are very nice but I guess I have moved on

Yeah. It's actually a really, REALLY bad movie. Best MST4K moment: I can't get Windows to recognize my printer, but it'll interface with an alien spaceship.... built by aliens who have interstellar travel but apparently haven't invented the radio. Second best: when the guard won't let the "crazy" guy on base 'cos he's been talking about aliens invading.... AFTER the big invasion.

    *sigh* SOOOO much fail....

I sure didn't enjoy it and my then friend dragging me to go see it with him in the theater. Luckily he paid.
Go return the disc and get your money back.

I was really psyched to see it originally but found it hollow and vapid, I might actually enjoy it for those qualities now.

I love this movie. yes, it has plot holes the size of Jupiter, but it is one of those quintesential popcorn movies and I think it is a fun movie to watch

I'll bring the popcorn for the next showing! This movie is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies, holes and all.

Yea, it's an incredibly dumb flick...but I enjoy it every time I watch it...I dunno why...because I really hate illogical sc-fi...like M Knight SHAMalayan's Signs, another dumbarse flick (which in turn I hate)...ID4 is a guilty pleasure of mine...lol.

Oh, you barely touched the surface, my friend...lol.

The main one from me of course is that we defeat them in just a couple of days...despite the fact that the aliens wiped out every major metropolitan city on Earth...but hey...that's how us humans roll...

yeah, but's a feel good movie....
it's about the unconquerable human spirit. come on it's a movie, not shakespear. sit back and enjoy the show...
i do love the scene in the first Xfiles movie though where he is ****ing on the poster of ID4 because Chris Carter hated the movie

We made the mistake of watching it as part of a movie marathon.... right after the first "War of the Worlds" film. They're almost the exact same film, although ID4 is the version with all the smarts sucked out.

                          >I might actually enjoy it for those qualities now.

I dunno. Part of the problem I had was that I'd seen this all before, but done better. Maybe not VISUALLY, but definitely cognizantly. The reason I like so many cheezy films is 'cos even though they're bad they always have something new/different/surprising in them.

                          >that's how us humans roll

It's 'cos we're all super-qualified; like Will Smith's stripper/truck driver/urban commando girlfriend from the film.

                          *sigh*

A quick review of the film:

                              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytCEuuW2_A

...And I agree Mikey, Mars Attacks is awesome - its my favorite of his, next to Frankenweenie and Vincent.
