I loved StarBlazers as a kid.
The new live action movie version of Space Battleship Yamato looks awesome.

This is odd.

Just the other day my husband and I were talking about Japanese cartoons we hadn't seen in a long time, and out of the blue Jim says, "I'd love to see Space Battleship Yamato."

The next day at the thrift store... StarBlazers VHS, still sealed for like $0.50 a piece.

And now I come to the Museum and I'm met with a Starblazer/Yamato thread.

Weird.

okay I have seen the Trailer this film looks amazing! yet their is no news in the States about? will it be released in Japan only? is it out now? are we going to have a chance to see it even on DVD in America? I need questions answered any help would be cool

Found out it was released December 1st last Wed in Japanese theaters.but no word on any US release?

Don't count on it. to date there hasn't be an official release of any of the Yamato series or it's spinofffs (we got the movies though) in the US only starblazers

It seems to be like the Robotech/macross fued

Here in NYC many asian people sell bootlegs of popular films on the streets. I should check and see if they are carrying them. Most are just films where they snuck a camera into the theatre but sometimes they have the advance theatre owner review copies.

Apperantly its beat out the new Harry Potter film in Japan as the number # 1 Film and still on top. Says alot about this film hope we can see it in the States

My only grip is that the captain is way too stiff...like a bloody statue (especially during all that chaotic battle)...just like in the cartoons, lol.,
