        I like both shows a lot. I try not to put them in competition with one another. They both ebb and flow depending on the public's tastes or the relative stupidity of the producer or network programmers.

          It's a testament to the original foundation of the show that it has survived (even through some, in hindsight, spectacularly bad ideas) and is thriving once again.

              It's amazing that, even with the BBC sometimes trying to kill the show, that the Doc's still with us. And with all the DVD releases, we get to see episodes that we'd never seen. I like the new series, but Classic Dr. Who still rules for me....

                The problem with the BBC is they can't go out of business because of bad programming decisions and mismanagement ... They basically can do anything they want with impunity.

                That's how Dr Who got cancelled in the first place (1989).
