Official: Doctor Who is coming to the US

Will they have time to hang out with the upcoming US Torchwood gang?

Details Of Doctor Whos USA-Set Two Parter Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

It’s no longer just a rumour: the Doctor is coming to America. In the two-part opening story of the next season of Doctor Who, everybody’s favourite timelord and (my favourite) companions, Amy and Rory, will all be taking a trip to the USA of the 1960s.

According to the BBC’s press release, the episodes have been written by Steven Moffat and will be shot from later this month going into November. Only some of the filming will be done in the US, some of it will still be done in Cardiff, and BBC America are being credited as co-producers.

    Says Moffat:

The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound to get round to America eventually. And of course every Doctor Who fan will be jumping up and down and saying he’s been in America before… but not for real, not on location and not with a story like this one.

What we know of the story so far is pretty slim: River Song will appear, the story will start in Utah and at some point, the characters will end up in the Oval Office.

will we end up with a bad protrayal of hippies against the establishment or Dr king like the one they did with Churchill

it was lame enough with Stargate sg1 or quantum leap did it. why not just CG the tardis into the moon landing while you're at it

I am kind of interested in Moffats general take on the United States -- which will shine through in the story.

RTD made it no secret he hated the USA

Really? When did RTD state he hated the USA?

I wonder if this story will refer back to the 2005 story Dalek? It's being filmed in Utah and that guy's trophy room was in Utah where he had the Cyberman Head and all the alien tech for his amusement.

            .
He didn't come out and say it but you can see it in his stories.

One example is how the US President acted in the Master/Martha story.

            Subtle stuff like that

I'm not looking for an argument here-so I'm sorry, but I think he was just referring to a specific President at the time Mike; which is not the same as hating the whole US. You might remember in the first X-Mas special Harriet Jones refused to take a call from the US President saying, "Tell him he's not my boss, etc.,..." I've have heard the rest of the world looks at us and thinks we're all crazy sometimes.

That's a goood thing because most people know better than to argue with a crazy person
