    McGann's/Doctor No.8, Costume gets revised.

Saw this news at Whona forums. Someone felt it necessary to revise Doctor #8's costume. This is most of it. It is still a work in progress according to the article:

The Doctor Who News Page: New Eighth Doctor costume revealed

Could this be a result of the Time War? Are we seeing a Doctor changed by wars ravages?

seems odd to do that to him, just for future publicity, when they haven't redone any of the other previous doctors? makes you wonder what they have planed with him, well does me

BBC could do a time war movie or mini series with him. He was only the doctor for the one USA movie. That leaves alot open for stories.

I'm guessing one of the reasons for the change is it's no secret McGann HATES making appearances in the TV movie "uniform" and wig.

Reminds you of Jack's outfit from Torchwood.

I always thought #8's outfit was too overtly a costume. Tom, Peter & Sly could have gone out in public, for the most part ,without standing out in their clothes. The Doctor's were always moving towards a less formal costume anyway. This is pretty radical compared to what he wore in the TV movie tho. As it's a work in progress I think it can get better.

I kind of liked his old suit for nostalgia sake (looked almost like something Hartnell might wear) but it is kind of over the top for modern Doctors.

On the other hand, i'm not crazy about the new suit above.
Looks too much like Eccleston's suit.

What a strange thing to do after all these years. I thought the old costume worked well and loved the Victorian look. Why not change Colin Baker's costume if they had to fiddle with one...that was downright awful!

Unless he is making a guest appearance in the new series. I don't get it, whats the point?

They do books and audio stories with him, right ?

If so, i'm guessing it's just for the cover art ... like they did changing Colin's suit to blue.

Not important (or even truly canon) by many people's standards

I agree, it looks to much like the 9th Doctor.

Actually I like the transition phase into the newer attitude Doctor. I makes sense the time war would make him a darker, grittier character.

It's not out of the realm for the 8th to have gotten a new outfit. Doctors have changed outfits before.

Hopefully Moffat finds something to do with the 8th and the 11th. It'd be a good way to have a crossover and actually have the 8th appear in the TV show beyond just images.

in the past the cosutme changes have been more subtle (Tom's changed year after year but always had the same bohemian style) . The later years all suffered from JNT's uniform mentality (he finally eased off a bit with Syl in that he could mix up his suit and jumper (thats a sweater to us yanks) colors with the umbrella. I would have preferred a look that was aligned with the original costume if perhaps a bit less fancy dress and a bit more (drop the cravat and vest for instance with Paul's actual hair instead of the long hair wig)

This is a bit too much like Tom's burgandy jacket (based on the russian officer jacket cut) or a german submariners deck coat oilskin.

if it makes Paul happy because he's expected to appear in costume for events fine but I don't think you'll see Peter in costume unless it's for the screen (like time crash), Colin should never be in costume again the years haven't been kind
