Man From Atlantis on DVD but...

This appears to be the DVD-R release from WB. This is the premire and does not include the 3 other TV films and who knows when the series will be released. It seems a bit over-priced for my [email protected]:

I have this on VHS, it's terrific but even I wouldn't pay $30 for it.

This recent DVD-R only approach from WB is slighly disconcerting.

I don't know why, I just loved that show. But I didn't think much of Patrick Duffy's swimshorts. Loved his green contact lenses though

^Esp. when you can get the entire Buck Rogers pilot & series for $15.

            Geez, I enjoyed MfA, though.

if you are on the WB email list they quite often have 20% off sales or something along those lines

              Bruce Banner:
If they did not go this route then the film would have no release at all. This is the only reason why WB are even doing such a thing. It would cost millions if they did pressed disc releases for each title in the archive collection (mastering, packing, extras, etc) and since most would not even give them back that return in revenues, most companies would skip over the film. WB (and now Sony as well as MGM **Sony seems to be remastering some) all have this dvdr service to give you many films that otherwise would never see the light (officially) of day due to production cost.

Yeah, I have acquired a few obscure films via the DVD-R service and have been very happy with the quality. Sure, they cost a few extra bucks, but there is no way I would have got them on anything but crappy VHS or even crappier bootleg otherwise, so I did not mind paying the extra couple of bucks.

I bought it a while back, because I think the chances of the series being released is probably slim and this is about the best we'll get. It was nice seeing it again after 30+ years, and Mr. Schubert was a much better villain than I remember him being.
