    Syfy cuts episodes?

I was watching an episode of Angel the other day, and suddenly noticed that SyFy cuts out the juicy bits!
You see someone swinging an axe, and whoops, they cut to the scene when the guy is already down on the floor.
In another scene, somebody stakes a vampire, and you just get the first split second, the whole "dusting and crumbling skeleton" was cut out.

Reminds me of the BBC showing a Friday the 13th, and cutting all violent scenes out. They should have called it: Friday the 13th, the one in which Jason stays in, washes his hair and reads a good book.

SyFy. Endless repeats of the same series and butchered episodes. A dream come true.
Maybe they can show porn that way.
    Scene one:
"Hey, would you like to have sex with me?"
"Yeah, sure. Let's go to my place."
Cut to scene of them both smoking a cigarette....

You should see Sci Fi's showing of Dr Who the New Series.

They cut like 5-10 minutes out of every episode

SYFY ruins anything they touch if it was produced by another company

Because once you've got it just want to get rid of it...

Asking if Syfy cuts episodes is like asking if water is wet

Found that out long time ago. You'd think you'd get used to it, but it's still weird

I wonder if they cut them for more commercials or to censor them.

It's a time honored tradition to shorten syndicated shows, though.

They've been cutting episodes of series since day one, it's nothing new...

One "Land of the Lost" website had a guy comparing the original versions (when newly released to DVD) to what he had taped off of Sci-Fi... It added up to a couple minutes per episode and if I remember right, some important footage/dialog...

I know the same can be said for POTA, TZ, etc...

once a show goes into syndication usually another 2-3 minutes are removed to make room for more commercials. Likewise scyfy is not a pay cable channel so they have regular standards like all other networks. Therefore they will cut what is deemed too offensive for regular tv. I always figured all of this was common knowledge but I was wrong about that

Not SyFy, but years ago in the 70's the channel that first started showing TOS cut all of the teasers before the opening credits. By mid 70s a new station was showing Star Trek and I was completely awe struck that there were these cool little bits before the credits started.
                      It's all good!

I think it is probibly killing 2 birds with one stone. Most shows need to be cut down to add commercials when they are syndicated. If you ever see the first couple of seasons of MASH on DVD on some episodes there are secondary story lines that had been removed in syndication.

Any BBC show gets hacked when aired over here. I always download copys off the net to watch the hole thing.
