I can't see the point of this at all, it's a complete waste of time.

However, it will be a sucess, it will make a fortune and i will be in the cinema.

Meesa think film will be bombast.

I wish they would spend their time and energy and restore them for Blu-ray first. At least the original three.

The definitive release will be on Blu Ray in 2011.

It's interesting to me to see so many folks NOT excited about this. Most of my time is spent with Star Wars fans who, while cynical about the prospect of having to drop even more clams into the Lucasfilm net, are nevertheless eager to see how this plays out.

I'm excited and I'll be there with bells on however I have yet to see a 2D to 3D conversion that was at all impressive. The biggest problem is the glasses. Tradititional 3D is filmed with the glasses in mind and set lighting is adjusted accordingly. Conversion 3D is too dark and distracting.
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.

The original Star Wars before it got messed up being " New Hope", maybe.

I agree. How much money have people here willingly and happily spent on Star Wars in the form of molded plastic? If it was bought at retail a portion of it went directly to Lucas. But... if he releases his movies in 3D, he's somehow bilking his fans? I have mixed feelings about Lucas, to put it delicately, and I'm pretty far from being a prequel apologist (to put it even more delicately). But come on.

So will this be added to their film ranking? Trying to beat Avatar perhaps?

I'm looking forward to the remake, of course, with younger actors (how about the cast of High School Musical), lots of fart jokes ("I recognized your foul stench when I came on board, Lord Farter", "No, Luke, I am your farter, ppprrrrrrrr"), and almost completely in CG.
That'll satisfy the modern target audience.

                    agreed.
Noone is gonna care about this being in 3D.

I could really care less about the Bluray set...I do not desire to spend $$ on the Prequel trilogy...really could care less about his *******ized version of Return of the Jedi too.

Gimmie New Hope and ESB on Bluray and I'll buy it....but not loose sleep over anticipation getting em.

This coming from a guy who has a kickass Darth Vader suit....

God enough with the 3D already , and please no Star Wars re-releases in theatres. Just leave it alone already.

Thousands of toys, which mostly sit on the pegs, repeat figures over and over, some hit and miss comics as well as books, different dvd versions, lucass is milking fans of the francise in so many different ways. He should remeber Trek, it was at a low for a few years due to the mishandling and milking of the francise, cant wait for this to happen to star wars as well. But to really be fair, Lucass is not the sole person to blame, the fans are also to blame cause we keep buying all this gunk. We are the ones buying his new cars and homes and financing al the sad soupped up versions of a classic. I for one stopped with the Star Wars books, comics and toys years ago. easy to do when the figures kept repeating and were are not top quality. What do you all think, let me know...

if he did a film preservation restoration on the original trilogy prints I would be all in to fork over 12 a piece to see them but this no thanks

I can't beleive no one made a SCTV Count Floyd or Bruno and Dr Tngue jokes (which is where I took 3-d Smell-o-rama from) - Urban Cowboy 3-d remake
