Dr Who talk - I wish the Time Lords would return

When the new series began I wasn't all that keen about having the Time Lords all gone but I got used to the idea and it made for some good "last of the Time Lords" episodes and plots.

Today though, i'm wishing they would return for good.

I'd like to see a higher authority and higher power than the Doctor.
Having nobody to answer to pushes the Doctor up into the Superman catagory and after a while this gets a bit boring.

I'd also like to see the Daleks return too instead of just having a few small cells pop up every now and then.
I'm not a huge-huge Dalek fan, but I like them enough to want to see them not misused.

I know it will never happen, but with RTD gone I hope Moffat considers bringing both the Time Lords and the Daleks back -- for real.

Considering how the last season ended, with restarting time from an earlier point... perhaps that is way to bring all that back?

I didn't find the Time Lords all that big a presence in the original series to honestly miss them. They only ever saved the Doctor's butt once to my knowledge.

As for having the Daleks back, I think that's already happening.

        Hmmmm....

When you can travel time NOTHING is ever gone for good. (That was kinda the point last season, waasn't it?) The Daleks are back, but they've been reconsolidating: we keep seeing small isolated groups of survivours with no central leadership. (Maybe that's what the new ones are for?) The Time Lords are out there.... somewhere, but we don't know how ready for action they are. It's possible the Time war could start up again. 'Course, I wonder if we're gonna see what happened to the Guardians.

I always thought that when Gallifrey broke free at the end of David Tennant's run, someone had to get off of there before it got locked away again. Someone had to be smart enough to plan ahead for whenever it would happen.

If the Time Lords ever did come back i'd like them to be like they were in the Classic Series, not badguys like RTD made them.

              >i'd like them to be like they were in the Classic Series, not badguys

I think we could. They've always been portrayed as conformists to a large degree. AND jerks. (Most of 'em anyhoo.) It'd require overthrowing the current regime, which would make for a decent season long subplot.

I think anyone wearing those silly collars should be banned from the Universe anyway.
It's probably what got them extinct in the end: unpractical head gear.....
