    Bicentennial Man

Just caught for the first time in a while on cable (and I had it on DVD as a gift).

Bicentennial Man (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An interesting but flawed film that might've benefited from having someone other than Robin Williams play the robot.

Not my kind of thing. Just the kind of overly sentimental stuff that I try to avoid.

        Hmmmm....

It bothered me 'cos it was EXACTLY what always happens. WHY does every sentient robot wonder about love? There's SO MUCH more to the human experience.

It was a pretty good movie. I liked Williams in the movie. But you need to read Asimov's story to really appreciate it.

Because they're all using a simplistic but romantic notion that love is proof of a soul which is what makes us human. Yaaaawn...

Personally I wanted that robot to end up in a scrap heap - he was pretty creepy. Leering at Little Miss and getting preachy about robot rights all the time - what the hell do I care about robot rights? The hints of incest didn't help either.

                Didn't mind it,williams was okay.
It was a tad long and preachy but overall not a bad flick.

I liked it. I liked Williams. I think its supposed to feel long. It spans how many generations. The one thing that did creep me out was the having feeling for the daughter then just taking up with the grand daughter etc. Suppose thats one of the problems being near immortal.

I liked it. I liked Williams in it but the "love" angle was Hollywood. I think in the book it was his quest to be classified as human which motivated him.

It wasn't bad...but as said already a few things made it a little weird...the book relates the story much better.
