I really enjoyed everything up to the last 30 minutes or so. The paranoia of an invasion and suspecting there might not be an invasion was more interesting than the invasion itself - which was just slapped-on B-grade typical nonsense.
It's the first Shyamalan movie where he forced on the twist ending and it really made a mess of things for me.
Gibson's daughter has a strange compulsion for leaving glasses of water everywhere --- it's such a weird characteristic that I can't imagine people not knowing that it was obviously going to play a part in the climax. Come on.
The message of that movie was so obvious and cliché it's hard to believe Shyamalan wasn't playing homage to the speech at the end of "Plan 9 From Outerspace".
On top of that you get all the non-science and illogic of the aliens. Just horribly un-thoughtful stuff for everything towards the end of the movie.
