I have no doubt that Serkis will one day receive a posthumous Oscar for his pioneering work in Motion Capture Suit Performance. Which is not yet recognized by the Academy.
I'll probably see this - unless it gets lousy reviews. But I think CGI-ifying it is unneccesary and reeks of Hollywood trying to make a blockbuster franchise from a 'safe' property rather than trying to make a good movie, or acknowledging the mistakes of the Burton 're-imagining'.
I liked Roddy McDowall's version of Ceasar better. Even though he b*****ed and moaned about the latex makeup prostheses, he still managed to pull off a convincing performance as Ceasar.
Andy Serkis? Well, he's an okay actor, but I don't think I've ever seen him in something that doesn't require CGI or a boatload of makeup.
