    Fantasy Island

I'll admit it, I love this show albeit on a slightly ironic level.

I bought the first season recently and the wife and I have been burning thought it pretty quickly. It's the combination of pure 70s cheese with so many familiar faces that just has me addicted.

Trouble is, I doubt we'll ever more seasons on DVD.

Anybody else a closet fan of this?

I still remember seeing either the first episode or TV movie when it first aired.

All I remember was a guy wanted to be hunted and Mr Roarke going after him with a rifle in a helecopter.

Afterward, I did watch the series sometimes, but it seemed to get too lovey-dovey later on almost like Love Boat.

"Da Plane! Da plane!" Yeah, it was a fun show. I considered it the last stomping grounds for most washed up stars from the late 60's and 70's. As interesting as it would be to see what happen to all of those stars, I think it would be even more interesting to see what happened to all of the lessor actors who constantly played thugs and crime bosses on shows like Starsky & Hutch, Swat, and similar shows. I guess their days of running crime syndicates behind toy and candy stores ran dry.

I liked it when the people who had been on the Love Boat suddenly showed up on Fantasy Island.

I did like that series, when i watched it lately it had a cheesy wierdness that just screamed 70's much like SMDM and Wonder Woman

I watched it faithfully every Saturday night when I was a kid.

Me too. My memories are quite vague now, but it seems like Burt Convy and the guy who played Wojo on Barney Miller alternated shows.

Funny, the first one we watched had Bert Convey. My wife said "He looks familiar, what did he do?" I pretty much only know him from Fantast Island.

I watched this show all the time when I was a kid, and was wondering if it would hold up for me today (same with Love Boat)

It ranks right up there with happy days for me watched whenever I could.
                        I loved the scary ones.

I watched it every week along with the Love Boat, which seems like a weird thing for a kid to do, but a lot of us did.

Used to watch it and Love boat back in the day. I guess it must have been all that was on at the time?...anyone else remember the crossover episode, near the end of both shows run.

I'm kind of surprised Mego didnt get the toy rights to Fantasy Island....Mr. Roarke and Tattoo were may more "toyetic" than the Love Boat cast....at least I would have rather had them than Gopher and Captain Stubing action figures?

Count me as a fan. I'd love to revisit this show. I remember being slightly spooked by this show as a kid.

I love Herve Villechaize. His 45 single "Why" is one of the greatest Golden Throats recordings of all time.

And I still would love to get my hands on this one (!):
