He don't have the look, but I think he has the attitude so it should be good.

I would like to, too.. I read the interview with Chris about this role, and he really liked playing the 'flawed hero'..

Apparently Mori as Yoko was considered as being 'too pretty' by some critics, but it should still be good to watch.

He looks really good cosmetically. But I have to tell you, I think Hollywood sometimes romanticizes too much on the 'lost years' Lennon had in the 70's. I know so much has been written about his dependency on Yoko and his drug/alcohol binges (and how they were separated for a while). Then you have the fights between him and Paul and their swipes at each other in songs. But you know, I found it far more interesting to listen to John, Yoko and Paul talk about it, than to see someone trying to play the part. I find there is too much contrivance in how they portray his personality that doesn't fit with so much I saw and read myself. Directors either make him too deep, where he's laced with too much self importance or they make him too shallow because they only focus on his dependencies. All, of course, done for dramatic flair to fit with their story. I think his personality, personal demons, and insecure tendencies are well documented and spoken about.

Wow.., very well said. I couldn't agree more. I still have the 1970 Jann Weller Rolling Stone interviews on my iPod here, along with the 5-6hr Lennon retrospect that J&Y did just after 'Double Fantasy' was released. It's much cooler just to listen to the interviews.

Granted Macca's too coy and savvy to ever dig too much dirt, but he still lets go ever so often and let's something spill.

That's one thing I didn't like about the US vs Lennon movie. It was 50% successful in 'painting the genre', then explaining the details and legal muck. But half way through, it went on with all the celebrity accolades about John and his music, that it became more about 'celebrating the legend' then the actual intent of the documentary. Nice to see, but a bit off-target with the focus.

I wonder how it would have been the other way around with John Lennon as The Doctor?

I think Lennon would be very Tom Baker-ish

I just watched an episode of Doctor Who with the Beatles on it, and the doctor commenting when the music turned off "You squashed my favorite beetle.".
