Sci-Fi movies shouldn't have had action figures?

So the other thread had me thinking - what movies had figures that left me scratching my head as to why they even existed?

I don't mean poorly made figures that should have been better. I mean ones that just never should have made it to concept.

Unfortunately right now I am drawing a blank.

I know these were out there - I just can't remember what they were.
I guess Mego's own Waltons might fit this category - seriously - who wanted the waltons as action figures?

Dune's merchandising was pretty strange - it's a really nice toy line design-wise - but it's weird that they thought kids would actually, you know, play with them.

It's not sci-fi movie, but my vote for the worst movie toy line would have to be for "Over The Top". Even as a teenager I thought those toys were nuts. Who wants to play with action figures that arm wrestle when kids can actually arm wrestle for real?

I instantly thought of that when I saw the movie "Big" and Tom Hanks asks the toy company execs "What's fun about playing with a building?"

Now that is what I'm talkin about.

What was the point in even trying?

and Palitoy's submission of Little Nicky
                      maybe eve DSV

The others listed were bad lines but I understand why they were made and done right they may have even been decent - it is the what were they thinking before they were even released ones I am wondering about.

The Aliens figures from the mid or early 90's sucked and so did the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves figures.

I think in the "what they were thinking" category would be the plush gremlin dolls that were out in 1984 before the movie premiered. I wonder how many children wound up scarred for life from getting one of those.
                          It's all good!
