"Avatar" on DVD

This disc has been living in my DVD player since I got it. I literally cannot stop watching it. I had to pop in some Planet of the Apes for reference this morning, and it really took some doin to pry Avatar out of there, even just for a few minutes. This movie is so damn brilliant, it almost defies logic. It's the first film I've seen a really long time, that actually made me feel like a kid again in the 70's, enjoying the magic and discovering the sense of wonder of the movies.

I love Avatar as well...best use of CGI with live action ever.

The alien world was just amazing...like nothing ever seen before.

I liked it I've seen it 3 times but I just don't see the huge draw!?!?!?
Great affects but weak story!?!?!?
It's just like last of the mohicans meets dances with wolves in space on a strange planet where everybody is blue.
It's good but greatest movie ever?
I'm just not feeling it I really want to but I don't...

Avatar came out years ago.....it was called Dancing with wolves! (really think about it), the stories are so much alike it's not funny! I like Avatar, really I do, but the very second I finished watching it I looked over at my wife and we both said the same thing.

When I bought my copy at Target, they had it on the endcap with Dances with Wolves. I thought that was hilarious. lol

Still a great show and fantastic CGI but the story just ain't there for me.

I agree too. The imagery was great but half the time the story and the dialog had me rolling my eyes.

I don't hate the movie, but I don't love it either. It is very pretty to look at though.
I'm probably jaded from working at the movies. I get like that sometimes and take it out on the movie when I probably shouldn't. I still hate Lord of the Rings for that reason.

I might buy it but not till after Christmas when I'm sure the special special wonderful edition will be out so I'm not duplicating my purchase for anything. I hear the version out now doesn't have any special features. Supposedly its coming back out in theaters in August with 6 minutes of footage added. (the ponytail sex scene maybe?).
