Dr Who - City of Death

Was watching City of Death last night.
I haven't seen it in a long time and just rediscovered it by accident - It was hiding behind The Leisure Hive - so I never even went near it for a long time

City of Death was a great Dr Who, imo
I would say it's my last favorite Tom Baker story of the series -- (meaning I didn't "love" any stories after City)
It was almost a last hoorah for the Baker years.

On a small side note, I liked that Leonardo never appeared on screen.
The new series would NEVER go this route and probably feature him throughout the show - which would kind of spoil it, imo.

I think the only thing I would have done to improve City of Death was to show more of Scaroth's many split personalities in different times rather than seeing The Doctor and Romana takes us on a tour of Paris for what seems forever.

Agreed..! This was Tom's last big hoorah. Very enjoyable romp.

Another improvement..? Shame Mr. Cleese and Ms. Bron only had cameos.., they could have at least had a scene of dialog with Baker. There certainly was a little room for it.

      I dunno,
I think too much airtime might have spoiled the feeling the audience must have first experienced when it originally aired.

I can imagine at least 3 quarters of the people watching said --- did I just see John Cleese ? ...

That's true, but still a missed opportunity.

cleese was an unplanned cameo. the commentary indcates he was a chum of Douglas adams and appeared as a lark

I also would have liked more other lives of scaroth but unless the Doctor would "chase" scaroth through time it was fine with what they did. and it would have changed to a straight studio story and might have failed. Overall it's one of my fav bakers and the last one I liked
