In terms of "First Doctor Appearance Stories" (confusing title Mike) I'd say

      1. Robot
      2. Spearhead From Space
      3. TV movie

There really aren't many great origin stories are there? I mean as much as I love McCoy, Time and the Rani is really weak, Twin Dilemma looks really rushed and Castrovolva is zzzzzzzzzz.

I really love the last twenty minutes of the Christmas Invasion as it set Tennant up as a brilliant Doctor but I fast forward during the rest.

Re-reading my title, yea it is confusing.
Sounds like i'm asking what's your favorite Hartnell story

I don't mind Castrovalva as far as the story goes, but the execusion of it is just plain crazy-boring.
Trek Next Gen kind of ripped off Castrovalva on a few occassions ... Even an episode of DS9 was similar.
Problem with Dr Who, during that time they can even take a good idea and turn it into a snoozefest.

I can only think of one that is head and shoulders above the rest imo...The 11th Hour. It was a lot more imaginative and special than all the rest for me. The way he met Amy was a stroke of genius!

Not your fault. It's mine with my reply. I read the title wrong. I was in a hurry during my lunch break.

Sadly Power of the Daleks is lost as in audio format it's pretty good I would love to have seen it's live action execution

in a weird turn of events both my "bests" are auton stories

                    Spearhead from Space and Rose

Robot is ok and I love Tom, but the part where the robot is CSO's up to giant scale with the action man in the claw and the AM scorpion tank is really poor (it's a fun toy but they should have at least got a model shop kit with better detail)

I like the TV movie at times but mostly it's the homage shots - stealing the clothes is a throwback to spearhead (much like in 11th hour same scene is used)
