As did Johnny Carson and Doris Day (Doris is still alive BTW)

He was great in the recent Trek, but looked very tired. He had a great run as an actor, and gave us a character just about everyone one in the world knows. Good to retire and just coast through his remaining years, and literally, live long and prosper.

            .
I've got a room full of Mr Spock tchotchkes that might suggest I think the world of the guy. I was just amused with his last appearance as Ssssspock.

I can't imagine a better ending to his career than his final scenes in Star Trek. Very fitting.

I will miss Spock as well, but I wish our favorite Vulcan a happy and well earned retirement. Live long and prosper, Leonard.

not to say he does not deserve retirement but I wouldn't be surprised if he does more acting at some point....he stepped out for 12 years and came back. i won't count him out until he is dead and buried.

Yes, he did, but then again how much of that was make-up to make him look even that much older than his younger self in the film... He was from his own future after all...

I agree with a lot of the people here, I'd guess he'll do a cameo or convention again at some point... And if not, he went out on top... I mean that new TREK movie was huge, so it's not like his career ended by saving the whales, or worse yet becoming a caricature of himself by doing price line negotiating...
