Yeah, I agree on that, I'd rather see what an 80s assistant was up to rather than the current batch. In rewatching the JNT era though I just kind of found Tegan a little toxic to the environment.

There wasn't enouigh plot to keep 3-4 companions busy (alot of the stories aren't all that good). In Mawdryn undead she really shines

Mel has been much better as an audio companion

          ACE I never liked

I can't remember... what happened to Nissa?

If the Doctor wasn't the "Last Time Lord", I'd love to see Romana II. It was fun seeing her as the President in the animated Shada.

I wonder what happened to Leela? Hopefully she survived Gallifrey and is ruling some tribe in some jungle planet somewhere.

                >I read that the Brigadier was actually on Sarah Jane or would be.

                Last episodes, second season.

....and I'd kinda like to see what happened to Susan. (Shouldn't we be up to our eyebrows in Dalek overlords right now?)

Yuk, that one with her standing over the Dalek's "arm" is just gross.

I love the Sarah Jane adventures...I always liked her.

See the recent dvd release Black Guardian Trilogy - Nissa stayed on Terminus to help the sick (it's poor story, the effects are terrbile even by 80's who standards but Nissa in Knickers nuff said)

Lala Ward has reprised her Romana character in a few Big Finish audios (prior to her naimated SHada apperance) and she and Loise Jamison reprise their roles in the Galifrey audio series from BF
                      to quote Nick Briggs

It always bugged me that in the Five Doctors, Davison just kind casually nods at Susan, shouldn't you be happier to see her?

I always chalked that up to lousy writing.
On the same note - and the same show, I always hated how the companions (who never knew eachother in the past) kindly shook hands when they met.

More realistically, they would probably do what Rose would do - which is grumble to herself (who the hell are they ? )

Terrence had a real chore to give so many doctors and companions something to do in 90 minutes and character development suffered.

As far as meeting other compantions... Teagan and Turlogh knew he had travelled with others (and knew the brig) who left before and if they accept more doctors not much leap to more companions. Rose was miffed as she had to share the Doctor (Cpt Jack came later)

I have to disagree on Ace. I thought she was an excellent companion and her relationship with the Doctor had some real chemistry.

Susan is such a lingering mystery. They make such a big deal of thre Doctor being alone, I wonder if they are intentionally not touching it.

There was some things I didn't like about Ace ... Specifically her calling out her own name "ACE!!!" whenever she did anything that was "rad"
