I think, conceptually, Avatar is pretty generic; so it's easy to find LOTS of clones. It'd be tough to prove a ripoff, since there'd be so many OTHER stories involved. Ultimately, a progenitor would need to be found.

This is one of them films that there's ALWAYS one of. (I think the last one was called "Delgo.")
