Holy crap, I think I just wet myself. This could be awesome! And Gaiking is one of my favourites too. Wow, just wow!
And the same article mentions that Del Toro is going to adapt "At the Mountains of Madness" and shoot on location in Antarctica?? This guy seems as nuts as Werner Herzog to try something like that, but as a Lovecraft fan, I'm really looking forward to this too.Comment

Interesting that they chose Gaiking. He was certainly one of the coolest but is he one of the more high profile? Mazinger and Getter Robo were certainly more popular and better known if they are choosing candidates for a live-action treatment.
I would also think that Grandizer/Golderak had a much higher international presence, particularly in Europe.

One of these days I will get around to replacing my 2ft Mazinger and Godzilla from when I was a kid. Transformers was OK, but I can actually identify with this one.Comment
