Repo Men, a gory remake of Logan's Run?

From what I heard about this movie, in the future, a company has a monopoly on being able to replace any organ with a artificial one.

But if you don't keep up with the payments, they send repro men out to search for you and literally rip it out of you (which makes you wonder how they became a monopoly if instead of them putting a GPS chip in the organ and a deactivation switch they hire a bunch of hitmen)

Two best friend hitmen are merrily collecting unpaid organs when one of them has their own financial trouble and his mechanical heart becomes something his other friend is assigned to collect.

There is just something about the plot that makes me think Logan and Francis.

    Hmmmm....

Never thought of it before; but now that you mention it.... I don't think there's a direct inspiration there, but they're kinda cut from the same cloth. "Repo Men" seems more like an inverted "The Island/Parts: The Clonus Horror."

And on a semi-related note: why are there so mnay weapons in the Repo Men trailer? If you were trying to collect someone's organs would you REALLY want to be packing all that artillery? "Get his liver; it's over there by the door...."

A lot of reviewers picked up on that one as well, it's definitely a stew of old ideas mixed together but most reviews said it's fun.

"Equilibrium" was another one that borrowed heavily from LR.

Isn't Repo Men just a complete ripoff of Repo: A Genetic Opera?

Either way, the movie doesn't look interesting to me. 4 seconds into the trailer and I already knew what the movie was going to be about.

I 'd be far more interested in a sequel to the 80's Emilio Estevez REPO MAN

Repo Man is based on the novel Repossession Mambo by Eric Garcia, who also co-wrote the screenplay.

Reminds me more of "The Island"...which of course is also a rip off of "Logan's Run".

Loved Equilibrium (loved the toys too!)
Thankfully some other skinny puppy loving fan besides me watched REPO: A Genetic Opera.
Love that movie and I immediately thought the plot was ripped off to make this new film.
May have been based on a book, but it sucks when such a similar film had already been made years prior.

Just as Parts: a Clonus Horror was the unofficial source material for The Island. Only I don't picture a lawsuit resulting out of this one.

Saw Repo Men this weekend. Pretty strange and uneven mash-up of several genres (action/slasher/drama/romance).

I will admit it was fun at times, but would have been a much better flick if they'd stuck to the action and streamlined the story somewhat. There were completely unnecessary characters in the movie and a lot of the gore was really gratuitous.
