I think him coming out of the closet was the best thing he could have done to help his perceived personality and career.
He went from being serious George with no personality, to almost flaming gay George that everyone get's kick out of.

AMAZING - but aside from Takei's performance does that technology even make sense? As I understand it red, green and blue (RGB) - are the primary colours for light. Green and red make yellow - so how would adding a yellow lightsource make any difference?Comment

I think that's just a confusion with the characters he played, I met him 20 years ago and he was a real lark.
