I traded for some 76/77 syndicated Treks from Detroit channel 50. Unlike the vintage ones I have from channel 10 (my local channel I used to watch Trek on) these are quite edited. And they are quite sloppy with the editing.
For instance, you Trek fans remember, "The Changeling" with Nomad. Nomad zapped the brains out of Uhura and killed Scotty.
Well, McCoy uttered a "He's Dead Jim" and faded out to commercial. When the show came back, Spock was trying to mind meld with Nomad. They had totally cut out Nomad reviving Scotty.
But, of course, Scotty shows up later in the episode when Nomad tries to supercharge the engines as if nothing had happened.
That must've thrown a few viewers for a loop in 1976.
I am sure some remember that Gene Roddenberry was on a speaking tour about Star Trek in the 1970's and he would bring his copy of "The Cage" and the bloopers to show.
Well, one of the shows I have advertise his Detroit show. It was hilarious because they called him "Gene Road-enberry"
I love getting these old broadcasts. This particular station has title cards for their syndicated shows that showed during commercial breaks. They were drawings of The Enterprise and The Enterprise with Kirk and Spock.
