Another New Star Trek movie thread

Was just watching the new Star Trek movie again and there's one thing that always bugs me ... This may have been discussed before, but if it has I never read it.

Here's a way future Spock could save Vulcan ...

    1. Spock goes back in time (which we seen in the movie)

    2. No matter what happened during the events of this movie, the 2 Spocks (at the end of the movie) devise a plan.

    3. Young Spock (who is highly regarded in Star Fleet gets a ship with warp drive)

    4. Future Spock slingshots into the future BEFORE the destruction of Romulan.

    5. Future Spock (now in the future) minds his own business and does not interfere with the destruction of Romulan -- Making the badguy not have a personal grudge against Spock and/or the Federation.

    6. If worse comes to worse, just kill him ..... "The Needs of the Many"

Time travel capability makes no events permanent --- if you don't want them to be.

The key is that they talk about it being an alternate reality not just a branch of the one that Nimoy Spock came from. I think that is the movie-maker work around on things being slightly different from classic Trek even before Nero showed up. It would also take the slingshot option out of the picture. That is also what has been seen as very positive by the fanbase, because it means the TNG time and history still exists in the other "reality."
    It's all good!

Right! The original timeline still exists...so maybe Spock prime feels this "alternate timeline" has already been messed with enough...and doesn't want to risk further damage to it.?

In the Book...Spock prime mentions that the timeline seems to be trying to repair itself, from the damaged done to it by Nero. Thus the series on coincidences bringing the original Crew together as it was meant to be. "fate"...if you will.

Or.......having already joined the Vulcan colony..Spock prime confides in his father and the two of them put things in place to prevent the destruction of Romulus...the time line will then self correct
