    Starcrash

I don't know how many folks have seen this around these parts but I have a soft spot for ripoffs, especially Italian Sci Fi rip offs and Star Crash is one of the biggest.

It's pretty crazy with a big cast of North Americans, Joe Spinell (Maniac) chews scenary as the "Vader" of the piece, Christomer Plummer is the good guy emporer (he must have wanted a Rome vacation) Marjoe Gortner is a space pilot who magically has powers mid way through the film but he sends everybody else on dangerous assignments? "The Hoff" plays a young star prince and looks maybe 25.

Oh and there's southern sherriff talking robots (this predates Slim Pickens as Old B.O.B) a deathstar shaped like a fist (that opens and closes), stop motion monsters (it isn't Dave Allen quality) and light saber fights of course.

Oh and the big draw of the film for me was it's star:

Easily one of the sexiest women of the 1970s, Caroline Monroe as Stella Star, who changes costumes every five minutes.

Anybody else seen this goofy, fun piece of trash?

That'd be like suing a first grader for drawing pictures of Darth Vader.

I was one of the fortunate ones () to see this upon release in the movie theatres.
Back then, all you wanted to see was more SW and space opera!
            So anything was welcome.
It's a fun cheesy little movie, but not that bad.
It has a fantastic John Barry soundtrack.

And if memory serves me right, it has a space ship in the form of a giant robot hand.
As a kid, I loved it!

I should see this again, and groan...

Give it a try, guys! (and girls)
And remember: in space, girls wear very skimpy outfits...

I only heard of it from a few write-ups in Starlog back in the day.

My dad took me to go see this for my birthday when it came out, so I got to see it in the theaters. I love Caroline Monroe! I took a great picture of her out of one of the early Fangoria magazines and had it hanging in my locker at school. This movie is alot of fun and parts of it can be found on youtube.

                    Ah, the good ole days...

                      HAW!

There's a certain joy that comes with grade-Z films.... you never know what you're gonna get, but it's definitely gonna be surprising and weird.

I've only seen clips of the movie on Youtube but it looks like a lot of fun.

Guys it's Caroline Munro! Not monroe. and yes i love this cheesefest because of her. i missed it when it came out in theaters, probably only lasted a week and didn't play near me. but i own the DVD and VHS just for her. I have that fangoria pictjure still and started me on my Love of Caroline even though i had seen her before in Golden Voyage of Sinbad. I've met her a cople of times and she's a wonderful Lady!
