    New DVD Selection at Wal-Mart

I was looking around at my local Wal-Mart this morning and noticed that they're changing out their DVD selection again. They didn't have everything set up yet, but I did notice that they are offering all five seasons of Babylon 5 for about $20 a season. I plan on grabbing all of those this week

Big Lots is still turning up more cool stuff, found Chamber of Horrors/The Brides of Fu Manchu double feature.

jusst another sign DVD is on the way out. I picked up the better seasons of B5 at Best Buy when they had their $20 per season sale - seasons 2-4
i was at Target yesterday and saw they had Battlestar Gallactica season 4.5 for 16.99 which is a great price

It isn't so much a sign that dvd is out but commercial dvd sales are. so many of us use the mail in rentals like netflix (since they carry tv shows too) and it's hard to guage what will sell. to be honest I am shocked there are any brick amn mortar store sales for dvd or cd with amz and ebay

It's because Blu-Rays are more profitable. I read an article in Forbes about it just before thanksgiving. Blu ray Discs have the same pressing cost, and have a $5 more per unit markup. They are clearing out the warehouses, to make room.

I'm seeing DVD prices dropping like flies. Whether it's cause of Blu-Ray or the economy, it's a golden age for bargain hunters. Sadly the electronics companies are not selling me on HD as they probably hoped for. As nice as HD is, it's not going to help me in my video collecting. I don't buy but a new DVD movie every rare now and then.

Just got back from BigLots, I've noticed that the stock varies from store to store here in Olympia.
                  Three DVDs for $3 each:
                  The Mummy 1959 Hammer
                  Horror of Dracula 1957 Hammer
Mutiny on the Bounty 1935 MGM
Best $10 I've spent in a long time.

I don't have a tv that will play blue ray or a blue ray player for that matter. I just can't afford it. I don't want to go out and rebuy all my dvd's as blue rays. So I'm good with dvd.

Is it just me or has Wal-Mart raised their prices on their blu-rays? As far as regular DVDs they have the seasons of 24 for $19.99. They also have the Buck Rogers complete series for $14.99. I haven't seen that show since I wore underoos so I'm kind of on the fence on that one...

you have to have a special TV, too? I was at Sam's and they were playing some movie on a HD tv and after seeing it I have no interest in HD. It all looks like some live shot tv show.

I think he meant he still has a "standard" tv (like I do) without an HD tv a blue ray disc doesn't make much difference. But an standard early 90's or 2000's dvd can look really bad on a hd tv since it was formated for the "square" screen with letterboxing (never mind VHS)
