Six Million Dollar Man Remembered

So I was tooling around usenet and there are about 50 or so epsodes of 6M$M for download. I kept thinking, was the show really that good or is it just me remembering poorly? So I dl'ed one I remember that was okay, Rescue of Athena 1. Where they dock at Skylab for a rescue. FFM's first appearance on the show. Three things struck me as I watched it.
1. FFM was hot but I still thought Lindsay Wagner was better looking.
2. Man, Lee Majors can't fake walking through zero-G at all.
3. The writing actually wasn't half bad. It was a DC Fontana episode and it really held up okay.

Upshot, I have a lotta 6M$M on the hard drive now and just working my through...5 episodes of Bigfoot yahoo!

The SMDM was a centerpiece of television programming in the 70's. I never missed an episode and think much of the series still holds up for the most part (give or take a little of the 70's sensitivity mush). Many also forget that Lee Majors quit the series when it was still a top ten hit on television. It's a d*mn shame because I think there was an unlimited amount of material left to cover. I still think this show holds the top spot as THE BEST opening sequence for a television show. Great music and very dynamic for the 70's. Still works in varying degrees today. Hey even bellbottoms are back...for the women anyway. I'm surprised they didn't try to revive him before they defaulted to the Bionic Woman. Too conceptualized there. For most people Jamie will always be Steve Austin's lost love.

When Six Million Dollar Man first aired it was very popular in my school (probably because the kid's dads watched it too) ... It took me about 2 years to get into it.

Secret of Bigfoot was actually the catalyst that got me to sit down and watch the show all the way through and I was a fan ever since.

For Bionic Woman, I, like many others was infatuated and in love with Lindsay Wagner at that time.
I really liked the first season and a little of the second, but I trailed off and stopped watching it by the third season.

Today, I appreciate both complete series in their entirety.

The only eps I watched as a kid were the crossovers (Bigfoot and Fembots), b/c the Bionic Woman was in them too. Of course, now I have most of them on tape. Those were my faves and Venus Probe, Day of the Robot and Return Of The Robot Maker, (y'know that Maskatron resembles actor John Saxon, right?), The Seven Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Boy, Taneha, Sharks, and Bionic Christmas Carol.

one of my favorite shows of all time!! some of the episodes were cool but others were just so so- like the one where william shatner guest starred.

I had that as a ringtone a few years ago before I switched to the Halloween theme.

Are you sure about that? I think the first episode she was on was either first or second season where she was a nosy reporter and got footage of him using his bionics. Can't remember the episode name at the moment.

No you were correct. "The Peeping Blonde" was after that and in season 2. I remember it being one of the first episodes, but I was incorrect!

I absolutely loved this show never ever missed it...and yes the opening credits still gives me goosebumps. I liked the love story with him and Jaimie and I was heartbroken when she died (later to be brought back) Although I really disliked when he grew out a mustache later in the show just thought he looked silly with it on.

I'm dying to see a big screen adaption of this some day.

Yeah, that was definitely a low light of the series. The first time I watched that episode since I was married, my wife burst out laughing when she heard it.

I LOVED 6MDM as a kid and I dearly want the entire series on DVD. I was scared to death of that Venus Probe and I haven't seen the spisode since I was a kid until just 2 years ago. Still scared. lol Not really but hearing the sound it made again was quite a trip!

Absolutely loved this show as a kid and used to do the sound effects when running and jumping etc. Had the Steve Austin and Maskatron figures which were well played with.

I watched the Bigfoot episodes recently (my faves, along with the Robot eps), and couldn't believe how awful it looked. It was still enjoyable in a nostalic kinda way though.
