OK, not a huge Dr Who fan here. I think I may have watched one episode as a kid and really didn't get into it. Always seemed kinda cheesy and corny and too British to me.
When Sci-Fi started running the new series a few years back with the guy with the brushcut I watched one or two episodes and was ambivalent about it. Seemed ok but nothing I had to see.
Somehow I caught the episode where he changed to Tennant and I dont know why but I immediately liked the show then and started watching it regularly. I did miss quite a few eps though because I didn't know when new eps were airing and new seasons began, etc but those that i watched I did enjoy.
Weirdly the last ep I caught new had Dr Who leaving Donna with no memory of him and I kept waiting for the new season but never heard about it. A couple weeks ago I upgraded my cable and got BBC America and found new eps of DW and caught the one last week about the Mars colony and then realized this was leading into the announced last season(episode) of Tennant. I didn't expect this to happen until next year or the year after and I think I missed a whole season.
Anyway...I basically came in with Tennant and I am leaving with Tennant.
I don't like anything I have seen about this new Dr Who although I presume I am in the minority on both accounts (seems DW fans hate Tennant so are going to love the new guy). He just seems like a total bore to me and I can't put my finger on it but I just don't like the looks of him. Not sure what that means but I don't want to watch him as Dr Who.
    I'll miss Tennant.

There was a short clip during the first commercial break in the show that followed, Demons.

      Just found this...

One of the two dissident Time Lords, described as "The Woman" in the credits, visits Wilf on several occasions, appearing and disappearing in unexplained ways. When she lowers her arms to stare at the Tenth Doctor he appears to recognise her, but when later asked by Wilf about her identity, he evades the question. Though the woman is never identified in the story, Julie Gardner refers to her as "The Doctor's mother",[citation needed] and British newspapers The Daily Telegraph and The Daily Mail identified the character as such as early as April 2009.[
In Human Nature/Family of Blood, The Doctor said his mother's name was Verity. Which is the name of the woman signing books at the end, who was the great granddaughter of the woman from Human Nature/Family of Blood.

So who do we think the second woman time lord covering her hands was? Romana? Susan?

Most Doctor Who fans don't hate Tennant ... On the contrary.

My biggest problem with Tennant is he constantly overacts.

        He's like Shatner on crack

It ran later on during the DEMONS premiere.
          Here it is:
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnPUF8an-XE

Some good stuff in there if you look closely: River Song appears, Daleks, new versions of the Siliurians & Sea Devils, Magpie Electrical (return of the Wire?), Vampires, Weeping Angels. ...and lots of running.

Now I'm hoping for a cleaner, more classic Tardis interior.

Tennant was voted favorite Doctor ever by the fans in Doctor Who Monthly Magazine.

Verity Lambert was the show's first producer, thus she was in a way the Doctor's "mother". As John Smith, the Doctor wrote his Book of Impossible Things journal, and I'd assume the name Verity was chosen for the writer out of the book.

Watching the show a second time, I notice that The Woman motions toward the diamond with her eyes slightly, tipping the Doctor off. I really believe the Second woman was The Master's mother, perhaps too ashamed to look at him. Susan went off and presumedly married one of the freedom fighters they encountered in the future, and as of the Five Doctors hadn't seem to return to Gallifrey or show signs of being "Time Lordish". Romana would have been a good choice, but perhaps more will come of this in the New Series, since they really went out of their way NOT to reveal who they were. The Time Lords returned to the "time bubble', and I would think that being Time Lords could hatch a new plot every second or so, no? I'm thinking this is the big end to next season- plus the Master is still out there as well.
Although for awhile, I thought the Woman appearring to Wilf was the White Guardian.

Not a bad story to end the Tennent run, I liked the last part, him saying so long to his past friends/companions. doesd this mean they will not be used in the next arc? I love Billie Piper and I do miss her, it's wonderful to see her again. I agree, would have liked to know who the women TIme Lords were and hope the story is carried over to the next arc. As for Rassalon return, we don't know what happened in the Time Wars so it is possible, he returned from help his people oe as he put it to help them reach the next level.
Does anyone know what Billie Pier is doing these days?

I think she plays a hooker on a British TV show ... or at least she used too.

I was underwhelmed by the Pt 2

Daulton is rassilon - ok I can swallow this pill because since they are at war they took the most powerful leader in history (in 5 doctors we know rassilon is immortal and "sleeping" so I guess it is either an awoken rassilon or they broke their own timelaws and grabbed the warlard rassilon from the ancient past (the one who lead the war against the vampires).

The phantom woman - I don't think it was Susan (there has never been a firm statement she was even gallifreyan). Romana escaped from N space in one of the novels but I'm not sure which so it could be her (in the audios she is back on galifrey and even president) but there were other female time ladies who helped the doctor of the the years - Chancelor Flavia (from 5 doctors) who davison appointed as his regent, The Inquisitor from the Trial of a timelord (can't recall if she is named) are 2

I didn't think he shot the diamond only the electonic apratus (but that is WAY more power than a webley normally has)

hated the death star escape stolen shots

SO Rassilon at the end of time is the one who drove the master mad - circular time paradox what a cop out - I wonder if Davies has to cut a check to Harlan Elison on that

Matt Smith's dr MAN he is really young and what's with the hair - it's like pompador meets moe howard with a bit of Brick mantooth

Yeah, that's more likely. Russell T. Davis is a magnet for criticism. I think the fact that Tennant was such a good actor and the cast was usually very good as well managed to lift the scripts above the level RTD was capable of creating. RTD seemed locked into this endless loop of recycling the same stuff over & over. The Daleks kept returning, the Cybermen, the Ood, the Master, using the same locations & companions over & over. So many great villains from the past to choose from, that could have been used: Sea Devils, Ice Warriors, Yeti, Celestial Toymaker...if you wanted to revisit companions, why not Jamie McCrimmon, Nyssa, or even Susan? The Doctor never revisted old companions in the show, and yet Sarah Jane was there again & again. And the endless Rose...was there anything more that could be rung out of that plotline? And things that never got folllowed up on- The Doctor's Daughter for example.
Even in the big event episodes, anything brilliant such as Simms' Master got watered down by silliness like Doctor in a birdcage or Master Race faces stuff. If Simm wasn't such a good actor, the episode would be ruined (imho).
And the limits of RTD creativity are especially glaring in this final episode- recycling scenes from Star Wars, Star Trek, the numerous plotholes pointed out here in this thread...
While most fans are sorry to see Tennant go, I think more are happy to see Davis leaving.

Tennant was well liked, though the whole "All time favorite Doctor" bit is a misnomer. Taking a poll at the height of his run, is hardly a fair gaging point. Sylvester McCoy won one of those as well.

I liked RTD well enough, but I think it'll be good to have someone else at the helm for a while.

On the net, I have seen some Doctor Who fans shun Tennant because he's a darling to non-Classic fans.

A good many Classic fans resent the fact that the show is drawing in new people who love the New Series but HATE or make fun of the Classic Series... calling the Classic Series cheapo, junkie, too British etc.

So there is some hidden resentment there toward Tennant from a number of Classic Series fans.

There were 2 Time Lords who dissented and those were the 2 kneeling at the end. Can we assume they were both women? We only saw one persons face. The one who warned Wilf, who revealed her face as she was kneeling, I assume that's the Doctor's Mother. Tho I must admit I thought it was Liz Sladen made up to look older. Can we infer that Sara Jane reminds the Doctor of his Mom? Is that why he was stuck on her more than any other companion, (Until Rose)?

Shouldn't the other Time Lord be his father? IMDB lists this actor in the story:

                              Joe Dixon ... The Second

Would that be the second kneeling Time Lord? Why would we assume the other be the Masters Mother? I would think there would be 4 dissenters if it were the parents of the Doctor and The Master.

I don't like to believe either of the woman are the Doctor or Master's parents.

Like the Doctor would say when Jack asked him if he and the Master were long lost brothers -- The Doctor said "you've been watching too much TV"

I think RTD threw them in there as ringers open to fan interpretations.

There's no way this can be officially resolved or the show would belly up ... No more Dr Who ... Too much info is the worst thing for this particular show ... JNT almost went this route during the end of the McCoy time.

If the new producer is smart, he'll leave well enough alone and we'll never find out who they were.
