    Battlestar Galactica 1978-1979 ABC television

I going start this thread because this has got to be my favorite sci-fi show ever! second is Buck Rogers.Im a sucker for Glen Larson Productions.I loved everything about it I know it has some real cheesy episodes I wont dispute that. But the were some great episodes aside from the 3 hour tv pilot, my favs are Lost Planet of the Gods ,War of the Gods ,Expirement on Terra I loved the Mytholigy about the show. Dirk Benedict, Richard Hatch, Lorne Greene ,Herb Jefferson Jr, were the best! How many people here actually own the Box set that came out in 2003 with the 3-D Cylon Head and then it was re-issued in 2006 as a normal box set ?

I have the boxed set shaped like a 3-D Cylon head. I waited and snagged one on ebay a few years back. I forget what I paid but I think I got it for around $40. Watched the whole thing. There were a few episodes I had never seen before, too.
While the remake has it's positive points and stands on it's own as an alternate reality BSG; the original will always be my favorite version.
Still hoping someday, someone can put together the remaining original cast for an updated movie or series.

      I'm still a big fan.
Especially the early episodes were great!

Loved the show! Even the spin-off (Galactica 1980?) with the flying motorcycles was cool in my book.

I have the standard box set. I had bootlegs of 1980 for years but I need to upgrade that to the new official release

I had the 3D Cylon Head set for a year or so, then sold it on eBay.. I enjoyed the extras, but was irked that the commentary for the pilot (Hatch, Benedict and Jefferson..) kept erroring out..?!? It was pretty funny, but always had a problem with the disk playing that episode for some reason.

I liked the second half of the series more (with Anne Lockhart..), when it started becoming 'more than the sum of it's parts', such as focusing on secondary characters, adding the 'blackshirt' security guards, less 'Star Wars' and more continuing stories, like 'Baltar's Escape', 'Experiment in Terra', etc..

It started finding it's 'legs' so to speak, and I really felt it was getting better and better.

The new series was apparently good, but it never held my attention.. The cast didn't have the same 'screen presence' that the original cast did.

Did they ever release the pilot TV movie in theatres ?

I have a very vague memory of seeing it at my local drive-in but i'm not sure.

I saw it in a local theatre before the show debuted. Different ending than the pilot. A Cylon beheads Baltar and Baltar is bald.

I was a fan of this show when I was young (even though I had to catch episodes on my aunt's TV as we didn't get ABC when it was on). I've watched it since when I can and most of the episodes hold up well. Sure, there are a few clunkers in there but also some gems.

I keep meaning to get the box set but never get around to it.

yes it was in Sensurround after the show was canceled in April 1979 it was in selected theaters around August or September 1979 I made a huge profit for Universal Studios especially in Canada and Japan it beat out films like Grease and Jaws 2 in those markets
