    Dr Who: Christmas Special

    What the hell was that?

RTD has finally lost his marbles,

this was awful, the whole hour long episode could have been done in about 10 minutes. Pointless padding would be putting it mildly.

I just watched it tonight on youtube

If anyone is looking for it there, search for DW TEOT

      It's in 6 parts

Thought it was slightly interesting, but it also keeps reminding me why i'm happy to see the RTD era finally ending.

I hate to admit it, but I personally don't care what happens --- just so long as it ends with RTD and Tennant gone.

It was ok, but certainly not the best send-off. The opening scene was quite silly, as was the implication that the Doctor "hooked up" with Queen Bess? A foreshadowing of the Next Doctor being 'more romantic"...I hope not.

It suffers from the same thing that many of the new series' stories have- trying to do too much at one time. Enormous plots that involve way too many participants, and nothing gets enough attention or explanation. The scenes with the Master's return were rushed and ill -explained. A Master-cult out of nowhere? And yet the stupid Ood have been foreshadowed for years now, only to be seen & heard in the opening bit.

And the big reveal at the end? Again, no advance plotting, just here we go.
This whole thing should have run through the last four specials- not that I didn't like Planet of the Dead, which I did, but this could have been a great 4-part epic, instead of 4 specials shoved into two.

And not to spoil too much, but any fear or OMG moment anyone may have had about the Master's plan was destroyed in the silliness of the actual event. Just as it was in the last Master serial, which for no reason whatsoever required the little Doctor in a birdcage crap, a bit that for me at least, ruined the entire thing.

Much as I love Tennant's Doctor, I'm hoping the new era will bring and end to constant returns to present day London, constantly seeing the same villains and companions resused episode after episode (so far at least Rose hasn't popped up AGAIN, but there's still next week, hey?), and above all, hopefully no more disgusting Ood.

And I'd have liked it if some offhand comment had been made about Bernie Cribbins in the Tardis, a sly referance to his being in the 1960s Doctor Who movie with Peter Cushing.

My guess for the next Doctor series? Time will reset itself and we will be seeing early adventures of the First Doctor shortly after he stole the Tardis. His regeneration cycle will be renewed, and all adventures of the first ten Doctors will be negated, meaning he will start fresh, the villains will all be redone, and all past continuity will be erased in order to give future stories a 'fresh start". I hope I'm wrong though, not what I'd prefer to see, but all us comic book readers out there are certainly familar with the reboot concept.

          .
I actually thought there was one ...
The idea that Wif didn't seem phased by the fact that it was "bigger on the inside" .... and instead commented on how messy it was.
I kind of read that as a sly nod to the fact that he'd been there before.

I don't think that will be the case ... for one, Matt Smith is officially being called the 11th Doctor by the BBC and production staff instead of something like Doctor 1 mark 2 or somthing.

I tend to believe the rumors that the timeline and the TARDIS reverts back to a time during or around the time war ... It would make everything that happened AFTER McGann never have happened ... This could bring back the Daleks and Time Lords in classic form and have Earth never having first contact with aliens...
Eccleston and Tennant will be official Doctors because they did happen and those lives (regenerations) were used, but nobody but the Doctor will remember them.
As far as the new TARDIS looking like the old TARDIS, it could be just an option picked by the new Doctor --- like the Classic Doctors occassionally changed the TARDIS' appearence.

My biggest worry is the new producer has a history of putting a lot of love angles in his storys ... I hate to say it, but I think it's almost a given this is going to happen a lot in future shows.

I'm kinda resigned to more "love" in the Tardis. It's probably inevitable, I guess. Maybe in a way actually seeing something romantic will be less intrusive than the constant unrequited angst of the past few years.

I wonder if the Doctor's daughter will be returning in the final special. It's always struck me as odd they created her then never used her again, only a few references here & there.

I'd like to see her come back. Dunno if it was planned, but it'd be entertaining. (Weird; there are technically three Doctors now....)

I didn't like most of the story: the way they brought The Master back. His "cult". Where did that come from?
How come they even remember him?
                  What about his superpowers? Huh?

The best thing for me was the scene with Cribbins and Tennant in the café. The talk about regeneration, and "dying".
                  That was good stuff.

But as usual, RTD threw away common sense and continuity, and assumed some chases and loud music would cover it all up.
To bad Tennant has to end his tenure with this stuff.

Heck for awhile there I thought The Master was suppose to be a robot. Just with the way his skull would glow.

I was unimpressed but will still hope for a nice tie up at the end

I did like whent he doctor asked where the Master was calling him Skeletor

all told a weaker fin al story to top of a season of weak stories. Almost as lame as Caves of Adrozani or Logopolis was

Yeah I agree with a meh. I liked the end and I hope it sets the story up for a better part 2 than a part 1.

                        The Master was just wasted.

I was expecting him to knock on the Tardis door and say:" Sarah Connor?"

The super powers was very off putting, I love the idea of casting John Simm as the Master as he's a talented guy but this script didn't use him very well.

The first half was quite dark, which is what I like but then descended into stupidness. The end was cool but how did it happen? I hope they explain it properly in the next part.

I'm starting to celebrate early re the departure of RTD; I'd shake his hand for bring the series back, then punch him in the face for the rest of it!

Roll on the Moff! I have a scriptwriter friend who's connected to the BBC and says they have seen the first episode of the series 5 and said it's superb. I've seen the synopsis for it on a couple of sites and it does sound really cool.
