Doctor Who talk -- is history repeating itself ?

    I just had a thought.
There seems to be a lot of parallels when comparing the new series with the classic series ...
Of course, not everything is going to match because this is pure coincidence, but here's a short list of parallels I came up with.

Because most people bypass Hartnell and Troughton as their "favorite" Doctor, I will bypass them too.

Jon Pertwee -- Christopher Eccleston ......
Both Doctors first story was about Autons
Both Doctors were made fun of because of their facial features --- Pertwee-nose... Eccleston-ears.
    Both Doctors delt with U.N.I.T.
Both Doctors had a companion that liked them, but didn't possibly fall in "love" with them until they regenerated.
Both Doctors were the oldest for their time and regenerated younger at least 2 regenerations later.

Tom Baker -- David Tennant .......
Both Doctors are fan's most popular Doctor Who's
Both are very similiar in quirkiness and mannerisms.
Both had 3-MAIN companions throughout their run as the Doctor.
Both had stories that lead up to their deaths (rather than their regenerations being incidental).
Both have become so popular their very image means "Doctor Who" even to non fans.
    Both had a male companion.

Peter Davison - Matt Smith .......
Both were/are being touted as "the youngest Doctor ever"
    ............
Guessing on the next ones .....
Both seem to be a rebirth as such in the series ....

    Just a passing thought,
    What do you think ?

Really didn't notice the Pertwee/Eccleston connection. Oh and one more to add to the Baker/Tennant connection, both are done in by The Master. At least that's what I'm going by with the previews for tomorrow.

      >Jon Pertwee -- Christopher Eccleston ......

One beat a lot of people up, one looked like he SHOULD beat a lot of people up....

Interesting observation. I wonder if there's some sort of undercurrent that causes the similarities. I don't think it's intentional; but I could see similar circumstances bringing about similar effects.

If this is the case,I'd hate to be the actor they pick to be the 12th Doctor.
