I had all intentions of watching it.

    It never arrived ...

I was going to give it a chance.

He probably made an attempt but:

Paramount did something to trip up DVDshrink making it give a "Invalid DVD menu structure" error on the Star Trek DVD when you try to analyze it.

I know because while I have the blu ray, I wanted a DVD copy (since I am the only one I know with blu ray) and a friend tried to do one for me but couldn't do it.

It's just a hunch but I don't think they will go the Khan route for the sequel, despite the rumors.

Give it a chance if you want to see a beloved TV series and film franchise SOLD OUT and thrown out so they can make Star (WARS) Trek movies and hopefully make more money off of people who don't care about star trek. after all the fans will support it or they may not get anything else! Well I'm not Biting. they trashed 40 years on good continuity for NO GOOD REASON. I don't Like reboots in my comics and i surre don't want it in my already successful TV/Movie franchise.

The previous Trek films were never major hits to begin with.

Star Trek had grown stale and old...it was on life support.

It was time for a change...and it was refreshing one at that.

J.J. Abrams revived the comatose franchise...and all for the better.

          I fully embrace both Trek worlds...I don't hate...I appreciate.

I think the Khan rumors are just that. If they want the JJverse version of Trek to survive its got to go its own way, and not just keep rehashing whats been done before. Although..they could redo Trek III and blow up that butt ugly Enterprise, so they can come out with something less ungainly.

I'm with Mike I'll give it a chance when someone gives me a copy for free (becuase the trailers haven't even enticed me to fork over a simoleon at the redbox) and I have nothing better to watch .... that would be after I am finish my front to back or of Doctor who (only 48 more stories to go before the Eccleston era)

I totally agree with you. Star Trek really needed fresh blood. They had dipped into the pool a few too many times with Voyager and Enterprise and even fans were tired of it. They either had to get back to basics or just accept that Trek was a dead property.

I don't know why but that would make me very happy, Star Trek got so sick with the "Stuff on people's foreheards" thing it make me sick. It was great that Nero looked like a classic Romulan and not a crappy TNG one.

Now that they've gone to all the trouble of a reboot, it would be pretty short-sighted to just go and retell the old stories. And even with a billion dollar budget, there is no way they could do a better 'Wrath of Khan'. No way.

Amen. Maybe future Spock can come up with a swine flu vaccine and give it to all the Klingons so their heads don't ever get all wonky. All he should need to do is show them a picture of the Duras sisters.

if you watch the deleted scenes on the new Trek disc, they actually show the new Klingon design. They wear full face helmets, the helmets have ridges, not sure whether the Klingons do. there is a scene where Nero was a prisoner of the Klingons on Rura Pente...(spelling anyone?)
