I just re-watched the Donner cut last week. I think the original cut was great when it came out when we were kids. The Donner cut shaves out the goof and campiness and makes it a great watch now that we're adults. We win twice my 40 something friends!sigpic "It's like you're unravelling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting..."Comment

My mom is from the George Reeves generation...but she prefers Christopher Reeve's Superman....she says he's the second most handsomest man she's ever seen...after Elvis Presley...lol...

I think both versions have their appeal. I can appreciate some of the comic relief in the theatrical version because it helps balance the script. Too serious a tone tends to undermine comic stories and they begin feeling a tad campy. A wink here and there is good to keep the material fun. But then again some of the ideas in the Donner version would have been interesting to see played out. I liked Lois' discovery of Clark and Superman better in the Donner version. But ultimately I would not have wanted the ending to be moved from part one to part two. I am happy with the official version there. And I don't have a problem with the "kiss" at the end of part II. Hey if you can accept a guy turning back time by changing the rotation of the earth, you sure as h*ll can except a magical kiss. C'mon now!Comment

I need to rewatch this (Donner cut) again to be sure but (correct me if I'm wrong) the one part that bugged me about that version was the Diner scene. That was one of my favorite parts of the first (Lester) one (Clark mopping up that diner bully at the end) but when you use the "turn back the world" ending in this version doesn't that mean the Diner scene never really happened? So that means Clark is beating up that guy for nothing but his own satisfaction?
