Don't neglect credit to Russel Davies, for being an absolutely brilliant television producer and film storyteller. I think we owe him a great debt for bringing together such amazing talent and bringing out the best of everyone involved in the show.

I think RTD was good and bad for the show .....

      The goods ...
      1. He brought it back
      2. He brought it back in a form not much different then the classic series
      3. He had some very good writers and generally the shows were very good

      The bads ...
      1. RTD should not write episodes.
      2. Companions were overused to the point of being annoying ie Rose
      3. There was too much social commentary in many of the shows.
      4. David Tennant overacts too much and often -- He's like Shatner on steriods

Because the person you say it to might not be Christian and therefor be offended by your religious tidings ...

I know it's stupid, but so is this world.

It became a big issue here in the states a year or so ago when retail giants Wal-Mart & Target instructed it's employees to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas for the above stated reason. A lot of people raised a fuss over the point, among the vocal majority being those following Fox News's Bill O'Reilly. O'Reilly railed against the practice on his shows for weeks. I believe the retailers have changed their minds on the policy and now employees are told to use their best judgement as to what phrase suits each customer best.
I'd be interested to know if anyone ever complained to anyone about being offended by the phrase Merry Christmas. If that's the most offensive thing that happened to me at Walmart ever I'd be a happy puppy. I'm much more offended by slow cashiers, NO cashiers, cashiers that comment on your every item as they bag it, customers that talk on their cel phones in line, argue with each other in line, groups of people that block the aisles while chatting, the loud and free use of the "f"-word in public, & on & on.

I myself prefer Merry Christmas, it just seems more personal.

              MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone!

Within the last few years my local town Christmas decorations changed from Christmas Trees and a manger to just generic bells hanging from a telephone pole -- looking like huge bullballs

If it wasn't so sad, it would actually be funny
