you know I had not picked up on the that comment by Scotty in the new movie. gives it a whole new light.

I think the biggest problem was they were trying to distance themselves from being Star Trek with the idea they could bring in new viewers. that's why when it came out it was just called Enterprise and they had an actual song as the theme for the first time. As usual the powers that be were snubbing ntheir noses at the very people who have kept this franchise viable for over 40 years.

the playing with established cannon and the inconsitancies with a more advanced ship than Kirk had just added to it. And yes, the crew jsut were not as likable. I like Bakula, thinks he is a good actor in the right role. But Star Trek was not it. the one consistantly good aspect was looking at T'pol in her cat suits....almost made it worth watching regularly....almost.

The problem with any retro Star Trek is that it'll be WAY more advanced than the original Star Trek.

Same crap with Star Wars. Episodes 1, 2 and 3 show things so much more advanced. It sort of ruins the idea that this is "before" all the other stuff.

I liked that they explained away the vintage Klingons though.

You got to be joking about Deep Space 9...it was by far the most action-packed out of all the Trek shows...the Dominion storyline was almost like Star Wars.

If I have to criticize Deep Space 9...I think it was greatly influenced by Babylon 5.

Scott Bakula was great as the Captain...and Joleene Blalock as T'Pol was hot as hell...but other than that...it was a bore fest.

I also agree that the Enterpise was far too modern for its time...it just never made sense.

Now the current movie works...because that's an alternate reality universe storyline...but ENTERPRISE wasn't.

            I really like DS-9 a lot.

When I was talking boring, I ment the first and second seasons which were very slow moving.

Oh yeah...in the beginning...Deep Space 9 was indeed boring...it was almost canceled...but the Dominion storyline completely changed the series...thank God for that.

I'll have to take your word for it because I could not STAND that series. It felt like a 70's series set in a hotel (or cruise ship) with guest stars each week. I liked Voyager better and I rarely watched THAT.
Although I really did love the final episode of Voyager.

I have to agree,I hated DS-9 for the same reasons. It got old fast and the whole dominion war was boring and lackluster to say the least.
I could see the writers sitting around a table knowing the show sucked on the verge of being cancelled going "hey lets have a big war that will bring people in.Lets have big laser battles and blow crap up...yeah,yeah..."
All that Sisko prophet crap was just a waste of tape!!!
Odo sucked the worst of all.
                  DS-9 = Snoring!!!
If I could go back in time I would erase ds-9 from existence along with voyager!!!

One of the reason's (along with many others) I hated Voyager and Enterprise was 7 of 9 and Tapol

These characters were clearly put into the show as main characters for the fan's reason to watch to show itself.

Classic Trek, Next Gen and Deep Space Nine had their fair share of peripheral babes and that was fantastic -- but the show relied on stories and characters more then having a sexy perfect supermodel up front as their selling feature.

When I see people respond to the question ---- Why do you love Voyager ? .... answer - Seven of Nine ......... I always cringe.

I don't cringe because I don't think their sexy ... I cringe because the producers pulled off what they had planned all along --- which was selling a crap show to the masses using eye candy.

I watched a couple of them but always found myself getting up and walking away....never wondering what happened.

                        I liked Enterprise a lot.
It was "smaller scale", it had nice references to TOS, and I liked the characters.
Way better than boring old Voyager, with zero likable characters.
I mean, are there any Janeway fans out there?
Finally a woman captain, and then they make her more boring than a Borg on valium.

I disliked the "modern look" of the Enterprise, but hey, they did the same with the new movie.

And Scott Bakula comes a close second after the Shat as my favourite Captain.
