Interesting. I've had a LD Player since '87/'88 and I didn't even know they came out with a Bionic Man LD. Thanks for the info.

Hey Blue...I own this on DVD...you just reset your region to "0" on your DVD player and it works in the US. No problem buying it from Australia and having it shipped. Unless, of course, that's illegal. Then I don't own it. :-)

Not all DVD players can have the region code changed, but there are a bunch that can. But other than the region, another issue with the Australian (and UK) DVDs are that they are in the PAL video format which is incompatable with the NTSC format used in North America. But again, many DVD players are out there now that can handle PAL, even cheap ones. Just gotta do some research.

And yes, it's perfectly legal to import a DVD from another country for your own use. Otherwise, I'd be a criminal many times over by now.

I have a multiregion player that I got from National Wholesale Liquidators for $50...I love that DVD Player

I was just really surprised that it hadn't been released here in the US.

It's usually the cheap players that can do anything. Copyright issues are weird. I think the US just has too many laywers, that's why there always seems to be much more legal hurtles to get anything done compared to other countries.

I don't know the right word but its what I would call "production" quality....meaning just like any other commercially produced DVD set. Nice!

Too many lawyers and too many laws for something like this.
So much BS and in the end while everyone's looking for thier cut nobody wins, particurly the fans of the show itself.

I'm still waiting for someone to turn the R-2/R-4 PAL releases into NTSC.

Whoever does that will make some pretty good money on the bootleg market.

Right now, all i've seen in NTSC were recorded off the TV to VCR to DVD transfers which are very "soft" looking.

Only Secret of Bigfoot is of good quality on NTSC ... I think Secret was originally released in NTSC on an obscure DVD collection... That transfer made it to current NTSC boots.

Officially, it's illegal to import DVDs from another region.
It's considered "damaging to local economy".

What it comes down to: we don't want the world to catch on that DVDs are way cheaper in the US. We certainly don't want anyone buying them. That is why we have customs officers that make us pay through the nose to get our cheap US DVDs. At times, we have to pay double the purchase price.
That'll teach us to want "the forbidden things".

DVDs are expensive here. Take the Watchmen 2 disc: 25 euros. That's $37. And I don't mean a "director's cut, or ultimate edition", just the regular 2 disc.

Have mercy on our souls. They're bleeding us dry here.....
