Gi Joe Rise of cobra dvd rel info

Since the film is more SCIFI than action I guess here is as good a place as any. I am not going to reopen the "is the film good or not" argument since that was done extensively when it was in the theater. this is purely a review of the dvd release iteself

there are no extended or alt cut scenes on the dvd, no teaser trailer (Where Hawk gets asked by mccullen what did you say the name of your unit was? and hawk replied "I didn't")

the extras on the 2 disc dvd are spartan. comentary from the directors, making of cgi for the major shots, and a digital copy for your ipod/laptop

unless you never saw it I would wait and get an ex rental copy in a month or so (or just get the cheaper 1 disc version now) I suspect an extended cut is in the future just in time for Christmas (like WB did with watchmen now in it's 3rd recut dvd)

It wasn't bad. The boy and I enjoyed it. Good popcorn flick. We'll pick it up sometime over the holidays I'm sure.

The best part about this movie was Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Doctor/Cobra Commander.

Picked up the Blu-ray at Walmart for $19.99. For that picture quality and price, I found the film as enjoyable as could be expected for that type of subject matter. The casting was odd at times though - Seeing Dennis Qaid in a major role was odd when you consider Brendan Fraser only made a cameo appearance in what appeared to be a mini-"Mummy" reunion with many of the other cast members(including the mummy himself). That was kind of fun. Overall a fun film.
